Hearing fizzling sound when PC powered at mains (random shutdowns)

I have my pc and monitor plugged into a four way outlet, but I shifted my room about so had to plug in to another socket. However when I plugged it in and turned the socket on, you could hear a crackling/fizzling sound from computer so I immediately turned off and it did it in two other sockets, so couldn't have been that.
However, turning each socket on, off, on until that sound went, my PC would power up easily and play games, etc, but after an hour or two it would either shutdown, or shutdown and restart.
So;
- I have tried all 3 sockets, same problem
- I have tried different 4 way connectors/extensions
- I have NOT tried a different power cable yet.
My specs -
i5 2500 - year old
Coolermaster GX 650w - year old (has 5 year warranty)
ASUS 560ti - 2 months old

Derp, annoyingly the thing I didn't check on the list was the problem.
I had a 5 amp cable in so maybe it was too powerful? Tried a 10 amp one and no crackling etc, no shutdowns SO far *touch wood*
5amp will be fine for that PSU. Most ICE leads are 5 amp.
I would think its more likely that in the movement of the computer you've either knocked an internal connection loose or the PSU.
Dunno what the dumbs are for but it's not havin the same problem, so looks like it was the cable.
