If they are actually gonna do a Bioshock movie, it should be set in Rapture and not in Columbia. Rapture has more potential if they're gonna make it a horror movie.
I think the whole Bioshock universe has plenty of potential to be a great movie, but these things never turn out as good as they should be so I'm not getting my hopes too high up.
Considering Infinite, they might end up doing both, probably with parallel storylines that start to interweave throughout the movie. Considering Courtnee Draper's been looking to play Elizabeth in the BioShock movie, I wouldn't put it past them to at least put it in Columbia, or even do the Rapture-Columbia crossover stuff. Regardless, the real question is whether the movie will follow the main canon or if it'll branch off into its own storyline.
given the events of infinite there are basically, heh, infinite storylines
Video game movies make my soul hurt. I could only hope that because it's Sony doing it, it won't be utter garbage. I mean, they did Spider-Man right, didn't they?

I hope they stick to one setting.

The idea of Bioshock being made into a movie still doesn't sit quite right with me, especially if it were to be a direct adaptation of the first game's story. From my perspective, Bioshock 1 was highly experience-driven, with have of the fun I got out of it coming from becoming immersed in the world of a dying Rapture, piecing together the back story of a city that once was, meeting the deranged characters that still inhabited it, etc. On the other hand, a movie would provide a great opportunity for said characters to be fleshed out. For example, meeting Sander Cohen was certainly one of the highlights of Bioshock, and I'd love to see more from his character. Either way, if this movie ends up going through, I just hope it does the games justice.
It'll be worse if Uwe Boll directs it.
Have people stopped letting him near cameras yet? I think a Bioshock movie could work, but it'd have to avoid occurring around the times any main characters are doing something game related basically, breaking the canon of the first two games would piss a lot of people off. Plus I don't trust them to not fuck up if they were to focus on the plot of the first one. It loses its magic if you aren't in control after all.
I wonder how much subtle advertising it'll have.
Just please, for the love of god, make it based on the world, not the story. I don't want them to retell the story of Jack or Subject Delta, just a story based on the lore of BioShock.
I always felt a movie set during the fall of Rapture would be the best bet.
I've got a long list of games that would make excellent movies in the hands of the right people, and BioShock confortably sits in the Top 5.
