An adapter that will go from DVI out of a GPU and Displayport/HDMI input on a monitor 2560x1440p? - Hardware & Software

Title is pretty much what I am looking for. I got a friend's dad who had a HP monitor that supports 2560x1440p, but can only get 1920x1200 through HDMI. I have found active adapters for people going from a display output from their computer to DVI input on their monitor, but not the other way around. The computer has a Geforce 610 in it and only as a DVI, VGA, and HDMI output. The monitor is a HP Envy 32. Preferably like to buy something off amazon.

Question to other FPers: couldn't you just take any DP->DVI cable and simply plug the ends around in reverse to get what OP wants? That would be a lot cheaper than the amazon link I found that says DVI->DP.

That cable should be what you need, it's designed to take a DVI signal and push it to a DP. Just reversing a normal adapter is not guaranteed to work, and often will not. [editline]4th September 2016[/editline] Though it's pretty cheap for an active adapter. I'm slightly skeptical.

Just no reviews or anything to confirm it has worked.

Well that second guy is wrong, the DVI interface is capable of that resolution, a 5 second google would confirm that. But I'm still skeptical about the price and no reviews. Do you have prime? Because if so you can just send it back for free piss easy if it doesn't work.
