Hi, I have been interested in upgrading my current build for a while now, at the moment these are my specs. Videocard - ATI 4850 RAM - Mushkin 2x2 GB Motherboard - Evga 680i LT SLI Processor - E 8400 overclocked to 3.6 GHz OCZ 600W power supply 1 Generic DVD optical drive 2 hard drives Case - Antec 900 To tell the truth the reason why I want to upgrade is because of ARMA 2 and newer games that I cannot play at a decent FPS. I am wondering if this upgrade would boost my performance at all. First of all I will buy 1 BFG GTX 260 from here because their store location is extremely close and I have a $25 gift card from participating in a LAN party. Corsair TX 750W http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX18779(ME).aspx My other question is if the power supply will be sufficient to power both cards or if I will need to buy a more powerful one. I will give out more information if necessary, thanks in advance.
That's not a great idea. Just save your money and get a new card in a month - ATI's DX11 cards should be out very soon.
ARgh I hate saving money but you are probably right, might as well wait until around october, by then I should have about $600 saved up, thank you for saving me from a soon to be outdated upgrade, though I will have to buy a new powersupply too most likely, any recomendations? I need something with 8 pin connectors and around 850 watts.
The Corsair is excellent, but try to get it from Newegg.ca, it's cheaper there. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006
A 600W OCZ can handle any SLI/Crossfire setup with 2 cards.
Your current 680W power supply will be more than sufficient for two GTX 260s. [editline]12:50AM[/editline] Goddamn it.
That's not a great idea. And by the times games are fully using the DX11 it would be time for him to get new cards anyway
Except the idea of getting a card that isn't a huge increase over what he has now and getting another of the same card later on isn't a bright idea. [editline]07:53PM[/editline] Pay $400 over the next 2 months for 2 cards and a new PSU or pay $300 in 2 months for a single card that will outperform both?

also prices may be driven down on existing cards
Pardon my ignorance, but will having DX 11 automatically boost fps in graphic cards? I'm not too knowledged about this, rate me a box.
I wouldn't think so. It's more or less the whole new design that the manufactures will be giving these cards.
Pardon my ignorance, but will having DX 11 automatically boost fps in graphic cards? I'm not too knowledged about this, rate me a box.
It provides potential for better graphics, but it doesn't boost performance.
