Is there anything i can do that will allow me get 1080p movies on my computer without a blueray player or downloading them. They're like 7-12 GBs. Like are there movies on 2 discs? I dont want to buy anything extra.
Dvd-9?
You wont find any films in 1080p on anything other than Blu-ray or HD DVD.
There's no legal way of doing it.
there are no 1080p movies that you can buy physical copies of that are not on Blu-Ray (or HD DVD but that's a dead format so let's brush it aside). there are some online distribution services where you can legally acquire 1080p digital copies for a fee, but that requires downloading.
unless you get a Blu-Ray drive or pony up the cash for something like amazon's movie thing, you're shit out of luck.
Step 1: Download and install Slysoft's 21-day trial of AnyDVD HD. (It strips copy protection from commercial-pressed discs.)
Step 2: Borrow friends' Blu-ray collections.
Step 3: Copy them to harddrive.
Step 4: Smash the movies down with Super to MKV format: H.264 @ 1920@1080, with 448Kbps AAC audio.
Step 5: Install VLC and enjoy.
Step 6: If you enjoyed said movie, purchase the retail disc.
I think he created the thread because he lacks a blu-ray drive.^
But yeah, get a blu-ray drive or you're out of luck. HD-DVD drives are also dirt cheap now and still has a nice selection of movies for very cheap too.
Rate me books. :350:
