• Using 3D-Analyze v2.36b to run Bioshock

To start this thread off, I can already play Bioshock with my graphics card, it just gets really bad performance on the lowest settings. I heard about 3D-Analyze, a virtual graphics card emulation deal thing, that would let me run it better. On here, Bioshock is listed as a supported game.
.. Battlefield Vietnam Batman Vengeance Beyond Good And Evil Big Mutha Truckers 2 Bioshock (ShaderShock 2.0 [dont use 2.0b!] and run using SwiftShader) Black And White ..
I tried using the big 'SELECT' button to find the .exe in my steam/steamapps/common/bioshock/Builds/Release/Bioshock.exe. It looked like it would work, so I configured the program for it to launch, and pressed 'RUN'; it gave me the loading cursor for a bit and then nothing happened. To check if it even launched I opened the Task Manager and sorted by name, and pressed 'RUN' again. Sure enough, Bioshock.exe was in the list..but it would close after a second. I tried selected the .url shortcut steam placed on my desktop but it didn't work. I pressed 'Save batch file!' to save a batch file (:rolleye:) to my desktop and tried launching that, same thing. I edited the batch file to launch the .url file and it didn't work, either. Can someone help? I can't afford to buy a new graphics card so please don't be one of those "HURR BY KNEW CARD LEOELEAOAO" guys. Thanks in advance! Bump. :(
That program is designed to emulate basic graphics technologys such as Shader 2.0 *apparently* so you can at the very least play the game if your card is fast enough to run it, however it sounds more or less like a load of nonsense. It won't change how well your graphics card performs so you won't notice a performence difference.
Is there any way, then, to get better performance out of Bioshock? I already play on minimum settings, but it gets really bad with too many things on the screen.
What's your video card?
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
That card should be able to run bioshock, it will just lag heaps on low settings. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8400_Gs_faq.html - supports all the shades needed etc, its just slow [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] holy shit, my post count is the same number as my FSB
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Get a new GPU. What's the wattage and brand of your power supply?
http://www.tweakguides.com/Bioshock_1.html Is this any help?

Last time I used the program (about a year and half ago) it faked shader support, so games would run, but the shaders would just be artifacts.

So there's..pretty much nothing I can do to get better performance from Bioshock without getting a better card / GPU? (Neither of which I can afford. :|)
