[quote]The bad news is that, while most of the rewards are new things and bonuses, a few of them appear to unlock things that subscribers now already have, like full guild and war party access, implying that – like too many MMOs that don’t start as F2P – free players will have some features removed or limited. youve got to be kidding me...

The guild thing is at least that you can still be in guild but you can't create/moderate one.

To be honest, that's not too limiting at all.
I get that choosing what is for free users and what isn't is difficult but none of the locked stuff seems unreasonable.
Hopefully they can make it a fair system that still offers incentive to actually subscribe.
Most of the "restrictions" are F2Pers getting normal rates and privileges and subs getting bonuses. Obviously there's some things you need to buy access to and whatnot but it doesn't seem too bad so far.
Well, on top of the F2P hooks, they are rebalancing the entire game. A lot of the leveling zones had issues with mob placement, a lot of mechanics weren't utilized fully (discoveries, some of the path missions, so on so forth) so they're in the process of reworking all that stuff.
I think that overall, it'll be a great game as F2P.

Nobody complains when SWTOR does this.
And it isn't even as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

Actually plenty of people complain about the way SWTOR does it :v:
I like SWTOR and even I think the F2P system in that game is garbage. But if you sub its great.
Honestly, SWTOR's F2P is total garbage. Preferred is what I would prefer for their F2P line with some bonuses for Preferred instead.
That said, it seems like Wildstar's is less restrictive by a large margin compared to SWTOR. Like sprinting. If you haven't paid for anything in SWTOR, you can't sprint until level 10. In Wildstar, they are make the sprinting speed the default speed when you're not in combat, which will make the game much faster overall. And that's not even with sprinting :v:

I think SWTOR could function if they didn't do think like lock chat functions to paying members.
Oh. I played SWTOR all of one time so I didn't realize everyone thought it was shit. Egg on my face then.

what a joke
this game is dead

Unless you mean emotes, restricting chat for non premiums is actually kind of a standard practice in modern F2P games. Without them, chat would be flooded with spamvertisements for gold/powerleveling/account selling sites. Especially if the game in question is even remotely popular.
there's been a full list of what non-subscribers get out for a while

Hell even with the restrictions, the game already has a significant gold selling issue. I don't want to imagine what it'd be like without them.
