I have a problem with one of my computers. When I am doing something on it, all of a sudden it will just basically shut off, except the green power light on the front stays on. The only way to get it working again is to turn the power switch off, wait till the light goes off, then power it on, but soon it happens again. Any idea what's wrong or how to fix it?
You have an insuffitient PSU. You gotta buy one with more wattage.
Technical info please.
Computer brand.
Computer specs.
Computer model.
Operating system.
64 bit / 32 bit OS.
It has been working fine for the past 2 1/2 years, and I haven't added any new hardware to it, maybe the PSU is just failing?

1 sec i'll get that for you

Intel Pentium D 2.66ghz
ECS P4M800PRO-M
2x512MB RAM
Windows XP SP2 32-bit
Not too sure on the PSU, would have to open it up
On the side of the PSU there should be a sticker that details the voltages and wattage. It might be on the side you cant see.

You didn't build the PSU from scratch, therefore there IS a sticker on it.

See a sticker?
Guys, it's not the PSU if it's worked for 2 and a half years...
I'm not saying that the PSU isn't the problem, but reading the sticker will not provide any useful information if the wattages sustained the PC for more than a year.
It sounds like either a faulty PSU or a faulty motherboard. I had a similar issue.

I have a spare PSU lying around, i'll try that out and see if it has any problems
5 bucks says motherboard dan.
Well I replaced the old 350W Antec PSU with a 450W Cooler Master PSU, and it seems to be working, but just in case it was overheating I put all the fans on 100% cycle
