I'm looking to get a Gaming Desktop computer, and I want to get the individual parts.
Answers to the standard questions:
-Budget
$1,000 Max
-Games that you'll play/Applications you'll use
I want to be able to play current AAA games on at least medium graphics settings.
I also do a lot of recording and audio/video editing so it needs to be able to run Logic Pro and other editing software I might get later.
-Native resolution of your monitor
I have three monitors I'd like to use with my new computer, (1280 × 1024), and two others, which are slightly smaller but I cannot find the product name or the resolution (my current computer is broken)
-Things you can reuse (OS, hard drive, optical drive)
I have a working optical drive and two hard drives
-Extras that you want (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc)
I already have the three screens mentioned earlier, as well as a keyboard, mouse and speakers.
-Where you live
I live in California, USA
Give me a bit and I'll spit out a PCPartPicker build for you. Any preferred online stores?
EDIT: I looked up Logic Pro, and that's a Mac program. You want this to be a Hackintosh?
You can use your current drives for your only ones for now, but I'd suggest getting an SSD when budget allows. Also with a gigabyte board, haswell processor, and nvidia GPU, you have pretty good hackintosh compatibility if you so choose.

What ports do your monitors have? When you say two others, do you want to use 5 monitors in total?
What operating system are you using? Logic Pro is only supported on Mac OS X.
How old are your hard disk drives? If they're nearing 5 years of age or do not support SATA then I strongly consider replacing them. If your optical drive does not support SATA then (unless you want to use an adapter) you should replace that as well.
How extensive is your work? Would you see yourself benefiting from 16GB of RAM and a Core i7?
If you are not planning to overclock, I'd suggest picking Intel Xeon 1231v3 over i5-4690k.
Xeon 1231v3 is basically i7 for a price of i5.
There is a comparison between i5-4690k and Xeon 1231v3 behind the second link.

For gaming he's much better off having four logical cores with higher frequencies than four cores with eight threads, although it's a viable choice if he prioritises the video editing
