• DVD Drive not Recognised

I've had this problem before and had to find an old DVD drive to plug in to fix it, but now that's doing it too. I was playing a game on a DVD perfectly but decided to play something else, I took out the DVD and put in the new one. The auto-run didn't come up so I tried to launch it from a shortcut. It then told me that the disk hadn't been found so I took it out and put it back in again (It's a brand new disk I've used just once before). That didn't work so I went to My Computer to run the disk from there, the drive told me it still had the first game's DVD in it so I tried fiddling around with putting that disk back in and out, but it did nothing. I then tried to 'explore' the disk, it gave me an I/O Device error and failed so I thought restarting my computer might help... Now the DVD drive isn't even shown in Device Manager but still opens and closes normally. Is there some way to fix this without replacing my drive again? (This only happened before a year ago) Fixed it, I feel like an idiot now: Despite checking the connections with the drive I completely failed to realise that I had knocked the connection with the motherboard out. There was still power because it was connected with PSU fine. Remember kids: Check both ends of the cable.
