• Direct x problems? and can not find dxdiag.exe
    19 replies, posted
It all started when I tried to run Just Cause 2 recently. I've ran it before when it came out and well after then. I noticed the great deals on it so I bought all the DLC and tried to play it and I got this error. So from there I assumed it was a problem with direct x, but my other game Aliens vs Predators runs fine and that uses direct x 10 or 11. So I tried reinstalling direct x, but that still didn't help. and when I tried to run dxdiag, I found that it is not to be found. my GPU is Radeon 5770 1gb So can anyone help me with this problem?
Is "dxdiag.exe" present in "C:\Windows\system32"?
Yes the game is but not the DLL's or Direct X The game is using direct X
oh do you mean on the hard drive, I was thinking of a game CD
I mean on the OS (checking if you have all the files for your OS)
Okay, just finished the disk check, and I am still having the same problem, Just Cause won't run, and dxdiag.exe won't run either. Same error messages.
Do you even know how to do a checkdisk?
Maybe, I could be wrong. this, right?
It's worth a try.
It's worth a try.
That's what I did. I'll be back in the morning. also I looked up the .dll that was said to be damaged or missing, I have it, so it must be damaged, but I see no way of changing it, or getting a new one. I have been wanting to reformat my hdd anyways, maybe that would fix it.
download the dll file from somewhere And replace it, simple as that Hopefully :ohdear:
You can also run it from command, using
chkdsk C: /f OR chkdsk C:\windows /f
Note, will only be performed under administrator access. Also, check to see if that dll shows up. If it does, run "regsvr32 filename.dll" in command w/ administrator, or the run prompt (win+r)
download the dll file from somewhere And replace it, simple as that Hopefully :ohdear:
That is check disk. [editline]01:19AM[/editline] also, try to reinstall directx10 or 11. Your drivers should include it... MSTN seems to yield nothing on the redist. Yet again, MS has a piss poor search engine.
Remove DirectX, reinstall DirectX?
I tried reinstalling direct x. I don't know how to remove it though.
You can't uninstall DirectX. It's apart of windows, you can update it however. After trying to reinstall DirectX, what results did you get? Still not working?
Run the directx web installer. It will get the missing files
I did. Let me go over exactly what I did, in case I made a mistake. I googled direct x and found the microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us/aboutgfw/pages/directx.aspx then I went to latest directx downloads for gamers http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/resultsForProduct.aspx?displaylang=en&productID=9C954C37-1ED1-4846-8A7D-85FC422D1388 DirectX End-user Runtime update and downloaded it from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en And it still didn't fix the problem. and I tried reinstalling the latest drivers for my gpu and still the same exact problem.
