So, I've been going without an Anti-virus for sometime now, What is a good one that won't rape my wallet in the face? I'm thinking avast but I wanted some feedback.
Avast or MSE.
Microsoft security essentials is 100 percent free and probably the best AV on the market
MBAM
MSE [editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
MBAM
he didnt ask for that
Kaspersky is okay...? If you trust the Ruskies......
Comodo, free version is as good as any paid AV
How have you not even heard of Microsoft Security Essentials yet?
How have you not even heard of Microsoft Security Essentials yet?
First time really.
Microsoft security essentials is 100 percent free and probably the best AV on the market
mse is the second best av on the market nod32 is still the best but nod32 isn't free [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] nod32 scanned on my netbook while i was playing world of warcraft (on a netbook) that shit was fucking spectacular

MSE or Avast
From what I've gathered, the main arguments are that it is free, well integrated and uses minimal resources.
I wonder who paid for those statistics. Just saying.

This combo saved my skin multiple times, it has never failed me, even with the 4 or 5 virus alerts I've gotten in the past couple years. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] And it's 100% free. No bullshit 30-day free trials or anything, just free. MSE is also currently the best anti-virus software out there right now, with Comodo Firewall being one of the best firewalls. Edit: Ignore the "dumb" rating... Some fuckhead is spamming dumb.

I might get MSE with Comodo, which I already have. EDIT: Chryseus is spamming dumbs, rofl
You may get a few 'false alarms' with Comodo, at times, but that sounds like a nice addition. I might get MSE with Comodo, which I already have.
You do get a lot of alerts with comodo, but you can change the safety level. I keep it at the default safety level, which alerts me whenever something new or unrecognized tries doing something to my computer. IMO it's nice knowing what's doing what to your computer, especially since you can allow/block/remove it as soon as it's detected. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] Also, MSE paired with Comodo Firewall is EXTREMELY low profile. My shitty laptop runs just as smoothly as it would if MSE/Comodo wasn't running.
How can MSE be the 'best' when it apparently has shit detection?
It doesn't have shit detection. Have you ever even tried it? [editline]30th October 2011[/editline]
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/l4l26.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uk20c.png[/thumb] Still not understanding why people recommend MSE.
Those charts are complete bullshit. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] Also, why do you think practically EVERYONE is suggesting MSE?
Common Sense 2011 It's free!
Common Sense 2011. It's free!
Oh boy, here we go. [editline]30th October 2011[/editline] Common sense is not a reasonable substitute for an AV.
Common Sense 2011. It's free!
I prefer Better Safe Than Sorry 2011.
Sorry, I will edit in a sarc mark for those who didn't notice.
AVG Free hands down, never had problems after years of use.
I've seen so many people "suggest" Common Sense seriously, that it's hard to tell who's joking. Easier to rate dumb and move on.
It doesn't have shit detection. Have you ever even tried it? Those charts are complete bullshit. Also, why do you think practically EVERYONE is suggesting MSE?
Because they're bandwagoning idiots? I still see people recommending Comodo's AV even though that thing is a piece of shit compared to GOOD AVs like avast, AVG, Panda, etc. I've also used a ton of other AVs and have never been infected, including MSE. What are you getting at? "THE TESTS ARE BULLSHIT AND BIASED BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FIT WITH MY VIEWS" Good one.
Are you kidding, AVG was an utter POS. It couldn't remove half of the stuff it found, IF it actualy found it.
Are you kidding, AVG was an utter POS. It couldn't remove half of the stuff it found, IF it actualy found it.
My past experience + those tests say otherwise. Your move.
