I truly wish there was an accurate count of how many people still play wc3 dota. I know it's pretty huge, taking China into consideration.
once dota is finished and 100% public lol will suffer
While it will have a bigger player count than it has now, it is a far fetched tale how lol will suffer when dota's finished. I have been playing dota since it was an unbalanced piece of shit, but I try to stay realistic and avoid bias. When it comes to news that is, I still think dota's a more better and beautiful game.
once dota is finished and 100% public lol will suffer
For a bit until the lol players are chewed up and spat out by the dota 2 community.
once dota is finished and 100% public lol will suffer
No it won't, LoL will never lose to dota 2, LoL is much easier to play, it's actually polished, and it's actually not an objectively poorly made game. Your fanboyism blinds you to reality.
The first post turned this into a LoL vs. DotA thread. What the fuck guys?
LoL is much easier to play.
This is essentially the only reason why LoL will always be more popular then DOTA 2.
No it won't, LoL will never lose to dota 2, LoL is much easier to play, it's actually polished, and it's actually not an objectively poorly made game. Your fanboyism blinds you to reality.
And you accuse others of fanboyism. Besides dota is better in every sense, LoL is boring. Every single game plays out exactly the same, the meta is so strict Riot ban people that don't follow it.

You're acting like DOTA 2 won't be polished after beta, and I sense extreme fanboyism from you by saying DotA is "objectively poorly made" when LoL took all of it's gameplay elements from DotA and then watered them down to all hell. Calling someone a fanboy won't hide the fact that you too; are a fanboy.

more like 5 million concurrent babby etc etc etc
Everyday i wonder why i still put myself through the torture of playing this game.
it's actually polished, and it's actually not an objectively poorly made game.
Oh the ignorance
Your fanboyism blinds you to reality.
and irony
Both of them are good games. They have different play styles. While the concept is the same, they play very much differently. You can't quite compare Dota and LoL, both have different aspects that they focus on. Personally I play both games and I think they're both good (though I've been playing more Dota lately). There. Can we just leave it at that?
And you accuse others of fanboyism. Besides dota is better in every sense, LoL is boring. Understand this.
So uh, Awesomenauts anyone?
the advantages of Dota 2: -way more beautiful game map -all champions are free -dropable cosmetic items -the "skins" are fully customisable -3 type of champions (force, ability and intelligence) -is on steam( guides, videos, gaben and stuff) -other stuff like day/night cycle, secret shop, 25levels, .. and advantages of LoL: -huge player base -4 maps -the designs of champions/maps are more colorful and "friendly"(not sure if correct word) -playing LoL is way more easier than Dota 2 -have a lot of sites dedicated for this game for guides, etc -no beta invites spam I rather play dota 2 for its game design, dropable cosmetic items and free champions but League for its easy gameplay, the 4 maps and no fucking beta invites spam
once dota is finished and 100% public lol will suffer
No it really wont. LoL is the biggest e-sport in the world, whether you want to admit it or not, its like saying "X mmo is the WoW killer" Its just now LoL and Dota 2 will be some serious competitors. Plus LoL has something Dota 2 wont have, a very simple and accessible game for all, LoL is 100x easier to get into than Dota 2 and is more casual, Dotas mechanics and depth just doesnt allow for that and thats a huge reason LoL is so successful. Same with being able to run on a 1999 gateway.
And you accuse others of fanboyism. Besides dota is better in every sense, LoL is boring. Every single game plays out exactly the same, the meta is so strict Riot ban people that don't follow it.
Right. Sure. You're a fanboy. I get it. You hear one guy say he heard of a person getting banned for breaking the metagame, so you instantly believe it. The rest of that thread was filled with people saying that's not true. No one has ever been banned for breaking the metagame. Even pro players in tournaments break the meta. The meta isn't strict. You're strict. According to you, there can only be one game per genre.
LoL is fucking huge why would it lose to DOTA 2 again? Please, tell me how you think once DOTA 2 is done all millions of players from LoL will just migrate over to DOTA 2.
LoL is fucking huge why would it lose to DOTA 2 again? Please, tell me how you think once DOTA 2 is done all millions of players from LoL will just migrate over to DOTA 2.
This is what people believe and its retarded. You know whats gonna happen. Dota 2 is out for all, and word gets around. LoL players hear about it, go play it, suck ass, then go back to LoL, at least the majority will do this. LoL isnt going anywhere and it doesnt really matter, both are very different from each other.
I'll just note here, people like to stick to what they know. I've known many people who have went from HoN to play Dota 2, and maybe 2 weeks later, came back to HoN because it's not as enjoyable for them. Personally, I've played Dota 2, and I just don't enjoy the gameplay as much as other Mobas I've played, it just feels too slow. I remember everyone always saying how HoN was going to die as Dota 2 grew, but it's actually grown itself. I am actually a bit annoyed about how Valve went about making Dota 2 popular, however. I recall they payed one of the biggest teams in HoN to migrate over to it, and they were my favorite.. They payed a few teams to swap to their game, actually. Sucks.
once dota is finished and 100% public lol will suffer
you just had to open your fucking mouth
As someone who played hundreds of games of the original DOTA, then HoN, then LoL, then DOTA 2, I have to say I have started to prefer DOTA 2 more as of late. The games feel generally more balanced overall because of small differences in gameplay (Lose gold for dying is probably the biggest factor in this one) Infact I'm not going to sit and argue the differences because its utterly pointless. They are catering to different audiences and being an elitist prick about the one you prefer doesn't change anything. Its good that both of them are getting a lot of users and growing so that people have a choice between the two.
once dota is finished and 100% public lol will suffer
It is 100% public. If anyone wants it, they just ask for it and get it. I don't see LoL suffering.
lol is for casuls and dota 2 is for more hardcore players im casul skum and i play lol deal with it [editline]17th March 2013[/editline] and what is a significant difference is that pre-game stuff is much more important in lol (runes, masteries summoner spells) and that snowballing less out of control
It is 100% public. If anyone wants it, they just ask for it and get it. I don't see LoL suffering.
Everyone has invites but it's a restricted beta still in China, to the point where there are invites only for China.
I too am anally anguished when I hear that people like a game that competes with my favorite game of the genre
