Hello. After holding off for a long time I think I finally want to build myself a new PC. I plan using it mainly for Steam games (Natural Selection 2, and Sonic Generations seem to be the most demanding games I own, but I want to buy Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon) and doing some video editing for fun. Here is what I've come up with myself using my fairly limited knowledge:

Am I going overboard with the CPU or GPU? If not, is my mobo good enough or will it bottleneck my components? Are there cheaper components that I should consider? I don't really care about overclocking unless its really worth it. Another concern I had was whether I should buy now or wait for Intel's new stuff. I just want a decent PC to last me a while before I need to update. I've always had a (well) below average computer as long as I can remember, so running at ULTRA FUCKING MAXIMUM or having a shit-load of storage isn't a priority (manage with less than 150 GB now). Thanks for your time.
Edit: Updated my build to its current state.
it seems good
Pretty good, but only thing I would change is to get 8GB of ram. But that's just me.

Thanks. I considered that at first, but I shaved it off to 4GB to save some money. I guess twice the memory at only $20 more would be a good investment though. Anyone have any other suggestions?

That build looks awesome, but you don't need a 650W to power a 660 Ti.

It's good to have down the road in the event that Beaver wants to do an SLI setup.

So are you suggesting I go with a 660 Ti instead of my 7850? Will a 450W not be sufficient? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

Christ I need to proof-read my posts better.
In my opinion, overclocking is really worth it to increase the longevity of your build.
I am currently sporting a 7 year old c2d E8500 and the only reason why its still viable for games is that it has a pretty large overclock on it.

Is it really 7 years? I got my E8500, 1,5tb build back then :v: still use that HDD and my server uses that CPU. Gonna stick my friends Q6600 or maybe his current i5 2500k (He's talking about upgrading and we made a deal bout' dis stuff) in there later.

Good point. Longevity is a big selling point for me. I need this thing to last me a while between upgrades. $14 more gets me a 2500k.

if you get a i5 2500k you kinda have to upgade to z77 or z68

Current build. Upped CPU to 3570k, got a Z77 mobo, changed the card to save a little money (this will probably be the first thing to be replaced, or I can just add another later). I think I have this pretty down unless someone notices I did something stupid. I'd genuinely like to thank everyone who posted. It forced me to look up a lot of stuff and I think I learned a huge amount from your suggestions.
