• How to lower my PC temps (especially GPU/CPU)

(If this is supposed to be in technical support, could a mod please move it. I apologise for any inconvenience) Is there any reason for such high temps, this is my current CPU cooler: http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2138&page=1 These are my specs, and some temps from earlier ago [GPU is 4870]: These are my CPU temps now! I'm in the UK, and I was thinking about purchasing one of these GPU coolers: 1)Dynatron Azenx 2)ZM-SC100 I was also thinking about this CPU cooler: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-034-ZA&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395 But what do you recommend I do/buy?
For the gpu go into CCC and turn the fan up to 100% and see what happens. Also 69 degrees isn't all the bad for a gpu you should get worried around 90 degrees. [editline]03:03PM[/editline] That does seem a bit warm for the cpu though so I recommend this when it comes back in stock. But that's idle temperatures? and wouldn't turning the fan up make it really loud? [editline]08:04PM[/editline] and my processor temperatures are really high!

And for the cpu I already posted a heatsink.
Clean out dust. Re-seat the heat sink and re-apply thermal paste if there isn't any dust.
Compressed air.
If the temps were never this high before then it is almost certainly just a build up of dust, in which case you need to get an air duster (compressed gas in a can).

Yeah, but it's not like it was a gradual raise of temperature, it was just one moment, normal then later it rose to 80 degrees! and ok, i'll buy some more thermal paste, already cleaned my fans and i'll get a new CPU fan.
that is about right for your PC 6000+ always runs hot, a few more case fans would probably be a better opyion
hmmm, but after changing the graphics card to the 8500gt. My temperatures have gone down quite a bit. You think it was the 4870 causing external heat or something like that? And by placing the 8500GT you have probably let your pc cool down. Get load temperatures after 10 minutes on 100% what you have now says nothing.
Yeah, but what i'm asking pretty much, is why does it run at high temperatures when the 4870 is in there?
Where did you get a 4870 from? It was my understanding they were discontinued?
Yeah, but what i'm asking pretty much, is why does it run at high temperatures when the 4870 is in there?
It probably doesn't like I said above.............. By changing the card you let your pc cool down, so when you plugged the 8500gt in the pc was cooler because it had just booted up. Else 4870 is a big card and might restrict airflow.
Where did you get a 4870 from? It was my understanding they were discontinued?
Since when? I have mine right next to me in a box. XFX 4870. Or maybe purchasing an Antec Three Hundred?
