• Computer restarts every 5 seconds with no video

My computer keeps restarting and it isn't getting to the motherboard splash screen, and my monitor keeps going into sleep because there is no video input detected. I've tried reseating the CMOS battery, tried both of my RAM sticks individually, unplugged my CD drive (this has actually caused problems before) and removed the video card (there are no onboard graphics on my motherboard so I didn't have the monitor plugged in, but the problems were still there). There is a slight hard drive activity but it's probably irrelevant since I'm not getting to the POST screen anyway or any video input at all for that matter, so it's probably the PSU, mobo or CPU, none of which I can test individually, which part seems faulty?
Sometimes USB devices can cause weird things like this, try unplugging every USB peripheral and see if it still can't start. Also since your monitor isn't displaying anything try using a different monitor just to rule out the chance that the screen is on the fritz.
Unplugged everything except the power cord and the same thing is happening
I'd go with PSU failure. And don't let it keep rebooting like that or you risk your hard drive being destroyed.
Try removing the power cord, holding the on button for a minute, plugging it back in and turning it back on. It worked for my issue and yours doesn't seem too different.

He's one of the techies here I trust. Given you're POSTing ok and getting video after fiddling with the PSU. I also suspect PSU failure and recommend getting it replaced.
My old PC used to turn off at around 5 seconds, was because my CPU was over heating. I checked my CPU Fan and was full of dust and the fan wasn't spinning properly. So i cleaned it up abit and worked fine. Hope this helps you!
I unplugged the hard drive from the computer and now the computer stays on after POSTing, obviously it tells me there is no OS found and asks me to load a system disk but it stays on permanently so the problem was the hard drive which I suspected since it crashed instantly after the motherboard splash screen, thanks a lot for the help!
