Probably best to call it the N3DS.
why can't nintendo come up with good names for new things? Wii U all over again.
Just call it like the 3DS Advanced like you did with gameboy
So.... what would the trade price be. Probably get nothing for switching a current 3DS XL for a new one, and have to pay full price...
I think it's a very bad practice to develop and release so many alternative versions of the 3ds. Consumers won't be sure if they want to get the lastest models because they seem to release every year a few new ones.

you say that, but they've been pulling this shit since the original greyboy. Obviously there are taking the piss a bit with the amount of 3DS types, but this isn't new to nintendo by any means

Yeah but each of them had quite some time between them and all the new models made significant advances. The gameboy sp was the definite version at the end.
Since the ds they started really just mixed stuff together and offering various models which are signifcantly different in their appearance and quality. Like the 2ds which might be neat for people that want a cheaper alternative but it's still worse in quality than a regular 3ds and it doesn't cost much more.

They did have some time between them, but not a hell of a lot. The Gameboy Pocket was the 2DS of that era, a cheaper alternative, same could be said about the gameboy micro as well though. The gameboy color was the DSi, there just to have something between the Gameboy and the GBA (between the DS and the 3DS.) Up until the DS, nintendo's portables only had 3 versions, but in the case of the DS it was 4, and currently at 5 with the 3DS. I'm not going to act like it isn't getting pretty ridiculous, but it should be fine as long as they don't bring another one out for a while, or at all.
I wouldn't mind to swap my first gen 3DS to this one, although that depends on the price.
My thumb hurts whenever I use the D-Pad and it feels a little too small on my hands.

"New 3DS" is probably the name for the Japanese market, and not the English-language one. Calling it "New 3DS" in Japan doesn't have the same problems as in an English market. They probably will call it something like "3DS Advance" outside of Japan to better convey that it's a new product instead of just a "new 3DS."
Just got ready to finally buy a 3DS and then this happens. C'mon, Nintendo.
This is just an integrated Circle Pad Pro with a few new features.
Nothing revolutionary, really.
Not only is there another iteration of the 3DS, the current 3DS games will not work on the New 3DS.
So it would only be a 3DS to use for the more demanding games.

What? They showed Monster Hunter 3 on it and they showed Super Smash Bros. It works with all 3DS games. Older 3DS models will not be able to run games designed for the New 3DS because of their lack of power.
Why does Nintendo suck at naming things? They should've just called it the Nintendo 3DS Neo or something.

Are you sure? I mean, New Super Mario Bros. is a thing
[t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BwNiTnqIUAAs96f.jpg[/t]
since it's japan only until 2015, which means the name can change in america and europe.

yes they do
why didnt they name it 3DSi
just call it a super 3ds god damn this isn't hard
Call it the 3DS One.
although I have a 3DS XL with a circle Pad Pro (skinned to look like a VirtualBoy) I may still pick this up if it fixes framerate issues in games like MGS3D:SE
