My HDD crashed in my computer a week or so ago (In my desktop) and I'm currently borrowing my sister's laptop, and everything is fine except it gets really, really hot. Now, were talking temperatures of over 80°c. It usually is around 90°, and I know this can damage her computer and it would be nice if I could stop ot from doing any more damage. I am pretty good with desktops, but I have never dealt with anything in laptops and I don't want to screw anything up and have to give her my new computer, so how can I decrease temps in her laptop?
Specs
AMD Turion x2 mobile @ 2.00ghz
3gb of ram
500gb HDD
Also, I have seen many things about other people having problems that have the same processor as her. She seems to get lag spikes every other tow minutes and they are bad. Thanks in advance.
Building a desktop usually works.

but really, get one of those laptop pads that go under the laptop. Usually help.
laptops are notorious for poor heating solutions, good luck
I don't know how much difference in temperature you'll get with these, I don't' wanna look it up, do it yourself :D

Firstly, i would try and get dust (if any) out of the heatsink, this may involve taking ti apart. If that fails get a laptop cooling pad, there not too expensive, i got one for my DV6 (notorious fo overheating) and it lowered the temps by about 20C.
Take it apart, remove dust, replace thermal goo (AS5 or MX-4 are excellent)
Buy a can of compressed air and spray into the vents and then buy a laptop cooling pad.
That's really abnormal even for proprietary stuff! Take it apart and hose everything down with compressed air. Apply some new thermal paste if you have it - if you're not comfortable taking apart a laptop, you could try to solve it externally by following the above post's instructions.
AMD Turion x2...
working as intended.
80 and 90c are not very uncommon in laptop (especially with that cpu).
I am guessing this is an Acer, Packard Bell or HP?

Oh it might be common but it still isnt good, dust it out.
My laptop's CPU had a tmax of 110C, you'll be fine.
My dad has got a laptop that runs a turion, it's pretty fucking hot too, those temps actually arent too worrysome, but you can still lower them cheaply
I have a Turion x2 laptop as well. Same high temp in mine. Although maxed I will see about 80-84c. I believe these processors just run hot. Like everyone's been saying, dust it out and if the fan is working there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
I used to have a Turion laptop, it went over 100c, and sometimes randomly shut down....
