I love the effect, but it's way too overused in a bad way and seems to be a way for people to just make songs without putting much effort into any part of it at all.

There's a difference between '90s gangsta rap which is extremely awesome and badass and today's pop rap which is what all the kids listen to and is completely shitty.

Gotta say the Rap/HipHop trend of the last ten years.
It can be good... but when every kid off the street thinks OHEY I CAN MAKE A BUCK OFF THAT, spits out some meaningless shit and then gets played at every club every night, it's bullshit. And that's basically where it's at right now.
That and the whole Emo and Scene trend. Thankfully that's kind of dying off now. Even the really fat emo kid I knew has shaved his head and stopped wearing make up (as far as I know). He's still fat though.

Yeah I agree to some extent. That music CAN be good, synthesisers and things are pretty fucking amazing when used right. But like my first complaint it seems like it's used as an effortless quick-fix for a lot of 'musicians' to pump out music quickly.
