I'm not sure this is the place for such a topic, but I wanted to try my luck here, and see what facepunch has to say about all this. So to begin, Comcast has sent us a notice from the Center For Copyright Information regarding allegedly Copyright Infringed material that was traced back to our computer somehow by the reporting party: antipiracy2@dtecnet.com. As far as I am understanding, the reporting party antipiracy2@dtecnet.com alerted Center For Copyright Information who alerted Comcast who sent us a letter in the mail trying to let us know that we allegedly have broken copyright agreements and may be ignorant of the rules and regulations regarding copyrighted material. Whether we have or have not infringed upon any existing laws or agreements is not what is in question. What I would like to know is how am I going to stop or reduce the intrusions into our privacy being made by Comcast and its affiliates into our personal computers and our data transfers. All we know up till now is that there are a number of ways we can reduce intrusions into our internet privacy that include: Proxies Port Forwarding? VPN's None of which I know how to use or configure, since it never occurred to me as information I needed to know and use. With all of this being said, how can I, step by step, make our computers anonymous from anyone who wished to trace, track, or otherwise intrude on our privacy? Thanks
Proxies - (usually) store logs anyway. (see: Sarah Palin email hack)
His IP address was logged at the proxy he used, CTunnel.com
Port Forwarding - nothing to do with anonymity. VPN's - still logged. Try TOR. FYI: They didn't look into your internet history, you was caught using torrents because your IP is broadcasted to everyone on that torrent. Maybe try Peerblock next time.
Thanks, will do some research on TOR and Peerblock, thanks for the suggestions, will post results.
