"Rediscover how Rockstar totally missed what made the first two Max Payne games amazing and makes an ultimately forgettable shooter."
"Rediscover how Rockstar totally missed what made the first two Max Payne games amazing and makes an ultimately forgettable shooter."
wanna clarify for me
"Rediscover how Rockstar totally missed what made the first two Max Payne games amazing and makes an ultimately forgettable shooter."
max payne 3 had excellent gameplay
max payne 3 had excellent gameplay
It did, but it had more cutscenes than gameplay and I don't think that's even hyperbole Most of them completely unnecessary and dragged out, even if for some reason you were invested in the story which really isn't anything special

I don't get the complaining about the cutscenes, I see it everywhere Most of them are pretty well directed and tense so I don't bother skipping them, but if you don't wanna watch them just play on arcade mode and skip.

to be honest the gameplay and graphics is so fucking fantastic that i didn't even notice how bad the rest of the game was
I could never understand why every action game after Max Payne doesn't have bullet time.
Multiplayer was pretty dope, shame nobody ever played Payne killer.
i never really could play max payne 3 because rockstar was being retarded every time i wanted to play the game
"Rediscover how Rockstar totally missed what made the first two Max Payne games amazing and makes an ultimately forgettable shooter."
I've returned to play Max Payne 3 on more than 5 occasions. It is nowhere near as a forgettable shooter.
Because they took a series with a heavy noir style and almost 0 cutscenes and made a game that misses the noir style and is comprised of massive long cutseneces
Max Payne was noir. They went Cinema Neavou. They literally just moved themes to the next genre up from Noir Noir was followed by Cinema Neavou [editline]26th November 2016[/editline] and it should also be said that the body animations and movement animations are literally the best in gaming i've ever seen, the way bodies react to walls and objects is very life like and realistic for the most part
I prefer 3 to the originals. :pudge:
I absolutely loved Max Payne 3. I even bought the first two games to explore the series roots. ...and then compatibility issues with modern hardware even with the fan patch completely stopped me from ever playing them, but still.
I prefer 3 to the originals. :pudge:
Yeah, Max Payne 1 had a better atmosphere for me but Max Payne 3's insanely good gameplay makes it my favorite. To me, in the end, gameplay is mostly what matters.
I don't remember one lick of Max Payne 3s story but I definitely remember the dope ass gameplay. Loved the game.
I don't remember one lick of Max Payne 3s story but I definitely remember the dope ass gameplay. Loved the game.
Really? I can remember a ton of the game, albeit in chunks. For instance, I can remember the stadium level when he gets shot in the arm and makes a big deal out of it, and then I can remember him finding a doctor and shouting "What the fuck are you DOING?" It's all very hazy for me.
I remember the airport shootout.
I remember being only one option away from maxing it because of not enough vram.
One of my favorite parts.
"I'm getting good at this".
"I already made the mistake of quitting drinking today, might as well take these pills so I at least don't die sober."
The story was completely forgettable. BUT- Gunplay, the stuff going on from a technical level. It's excellent.
The story and atmosphere of MP1 and 2 were a lot better, but 3's gameplay is sooo much better. It's like they took everything from the old games and just straight up improved them. Except the gun sounds though, MP3's gun sounds aren't the greatest. I just wish there would be an MP4 with the same type of feeling as MP1/2's stories but the refined gameplay of 3

It often jumped from cutscene right into gameplay because of that.
