"relatively cool" is an interesting way to describe a dumpster fire.
I wonder if this means we will get an Andromeda sequel and if so, by who.

Probably not Montreal considering how they had their shot and effectively blew it coming out of the gate.

If we get a direct sequel it will have to wait for at least four years unless EA plans to literally outsource it, so very likely no.
They moved them to work on Star Wars Battlefront. You know who is also working on Battlefront instead of making Burnout ? Criterion Games. I can already see Titanfall devs working on Battlefront too.
Going by what the 'hiatus' meant for previous EA franchises like Dead Space and Command and Conquer, this basically means Mass Effect is now as good as gone. For them to decide it's just not worth their time or money to continue it so soon after a high-profile game in a beloved franchise after all that development time suggests they have no intention of following through with the plans to have this start a new trilogy/series.
This basically means "We don't care about it anymore, just ignore it". Of the other franchises EA has done this to, Mirror's Edge and guitar hero seem to have been the only two get a new game (and guitar hero as well, sort of)...but both were many years later, rebooted/changed the franchise and ended up being pretty mediocre overall.
so the andromeda trilogy is DOA huh?
I mean the game was pretty mediocre in many elements but I didn't really expect it to perform that badly.
Good though, hopefully EA realizes they can't just use their IP to pump out mediocre titles and have the success they're used to.

They could always just reboot it.
It's embarrassing a full priced triple-A game released in the state MEA did. Piece of shot deserves to burn

Can't have the timid stock holders getting scared now
Most public companies will try to spin doctor it, right up until their corporate office is burning down.
I get the feeling EA themselves are more to blame than the developpers. They've got this nasty habit of buying studios, force them to churn out sequels one after the other, and shutting them down once diminishing returns kick in.

It's embarrassing that a publisher with a history of bad decision making yet again put a huge weight on a rookie studio expecting them to shit gold.
Might not be this year but that studio is disappearing or merging real soon.

Respawn is working on their own unannounced Star Wars game
Plus EA doesn't own Respawn, so they can't just order them to work on another game

Yes and no.
Yes: EA fucked BW on forcing them to make ME3 in two years, complete and utter bullshit, and the reason Edmonton imploded.
No: Montreal fucked themselves. Mr. Walters' ~artistic vision~ and political contrivance where none should exist and taking all the things about Bethesda OW that people DON'T like instead of the things they do is entirely on Montreal.
