Since I am moving into my dorm soon, I don't want to have to bring more stuff than necessary, meaning my tv (besides that it's dying anyways).
My goal is to get a tv tuner for my desktop so I can watch tv on one monitor and do other shit on my other, plus have the ability to record shows.
Anyways, I am looking at a bunch on newegg, and I can't figure out which is the best one. My price range is about 60 bucks.
My preference is external, however I will use an internal if I can find a good, low price one.

I have one of those and it's done pretty well. The only beef is that if it comes with a remote, don't expect it to work.
Stick with hauppauge, Blackgold and Pinnacle and you will be safe.
Third vote for Hauppauge, got one for my first year of uni and it worked really well (even the remote).
Hauppage are ok but don't use their own drivers, they are god awful.
I used to have a Leadtek DTV200H, it was pretty snazzy.
I can't tell you what to get but, I can tell you to AVOID MSI. I have a cheap MSI TV@nywhere and it<shit.

Where would I find 3rd party drivers?
Also, are their products digital? Everyone seems to be worried about this on the newegg comments saying that since there are no more analog signals anymore, some of these tuners won't work. Does that apply for cable or just over-the-air?
Also applies to cable.
AKA I'm also fucked when all shit goes digital in 2010 :( .
Is it possible to hook this tuner up to coax and not the included antenna?

I am also wondering if this is a good buy

If it is, then how the hell do I connect the coax cable to it? I don't see a threaded connector thingy.
I am also looking at this one too, which is my preference.

1) http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/productimage/15-100-018-05.jpg
Apparently so
2) Probably a UK image, We (STILL!) Use Belling-lee connectors for god knows what reason.
AverMedia actually seems to be a decent company for this. I use this and it worked perfectly on Vista and Windows 7. And their software leaves a really low footprint on your computer. Low CPU and RAM usage while running. It also supports all the digital tv signals as far as I know.
Should probably mention what I have, and experiences:
Satellite: Hauppauge Nova-T-S2 DVB-S2
Analogue/Comosite: Hauppauge Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 (or is it a Go?.. Been so long)
DVB-T/Freeview: Pinnacle 250i
The Pinnacle is slow at channel seeking at times, the hauppauges (What a word) have never quirked on me, ever, even when watching FTA HDTV. - The viewing application that comes with the Hauppauge cards is SHIT, don't use it.
All work in Vista, Even the PVR-150.. Which I bought in..2000?
And I want a decent TV Dinner, but that's not happening, because I can't afford one.
Hauppage is working well for me in my dorm.
