Hey guys. Im looking for a good quality 5.1 Surround Sound system. I've never set up something like it before so id need some info on any special connections or station id need to buy with it aswell.
Id like to get something around £50.
I've seen the Logitech X-530 5.1 System on Ebuyer for £55 Here
I've also seen the Divoon XForce 5.1 System also on Ebuyer for slightly cheaper at £49.99 Here
The Divoon system has a wireless remote and 10W more RMS. Also it says it has a feature which allows it to get wall mounted without any extra kit. The logitech says nothing about wall mounting, but has alot more reviews than the Divoon.
So my question is what should i be looking for? Can you guys recommend anything around my price range? Do i need any extra kit such as wall mounting brackets or some kind of base station to get it hooked together?
As far as i can see my on board sound device on my PC supports 5.1 too, but maybe a cheap sound card might enhance its performance?
I'd go with Logitech, never heard of Divoon, extra wattage isn't really important as 99% of speaker manufactures report peak wattage output, which is pretty much meaningless.
How do you think i should go about attaching it for my PS3, PC and anything else id want it to use? A mixer?
I'd say add on an extra £10 and get the X-540, as it's matrix function is lovely for playing music.
Plus the headset connector at the volume controller doesn't require that the stereo is turned on, so I can have it on my desktop infront of my computer so that I can hook it directly up to my stereo above my screen, and then use it for volume control.

For what it's worth, 10W more (RMS) Equates to an inaudible increase in maximum volume and headroom.
It takes twice as much amplifier power for every 3db gained, 3db is accepted as the smallest audible increase. 6-10db is considered "Twice as loud" to most and to achieve this you need to multiply the amplifier wattage by 10 every time. 1000w is twice as loud as 100w driving the same speakers in the same room.
Forget marginal wattage differences, you really aren't going to notice a difference.
Cheers mate i think i will go ahead with that X-540.
