When I was born, I was brought up Lutheran.I was pretty obsessed with being a good person to the point of self righteousness.
I became an atheist when I was 12 and learned about other religions. I began to question my religion, for every religion was so different, but all of them claimed that they absolutely were the truth, however, that could not be possible. I realized that I had no proof of god, therefore I abandoned religion.
I became an agnostic at 14 when I noticed although there was no proof that god existed, there was no proof against an omnipotent being, therefore I saw it to be just as arrogant to be on either side of the spectrum.
At 15, I read into Buddhism and saw that it left followers to search for the answer to that question themselves, along with philosophies on life that I completely agreed with.
At 17, I became an agnostic again when thinking about Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha's) quote "I would rather have scholars than followers." and his general philosophy on finding knowledge for yourself and realized that the world was too complicated to restrict yourself to an ideology. I took a respectful leave to Buddhism, although some of the practices I still partake in. I do actions that are against Buddhism (EX: Smoking hookah), but I still feel close to it.
I know most other facepunch members are secular, as I am, but I want to hear what lead you guys down the paths that you have taken.
hey i was a boy with angst once too, therefore atheism was obviously the only path i could take
not really
Bah religions.
What a waste of time.
i was apparently christian at primary school because they had compulsory religious education. Then i found out religion is a sham and became atheist
Ages ago i though i was Christian, but now I'm a sort of antagonistic atheist.
I have no religion, im an atheist

Oh yay a religion thread
On Facepunch
I was Christian for about 7 years, until I learned what the fuck religion actually was... then I made my own decision.
I was christian, but I'm agnostic now.
I don't need to follow a religion to believe something.
Islam.
Really tough to get it out of your head, but still possible.
I'm a christian. Some form of Protestant I suppose. I don't really go to church, and it's generally one of the last things on my mind.
pastafarianism hurr durr
Was christian, now agnostic atheist.
I was a christian a few years ago but when I started learning about science i turned to atheism
:science:
Used to be Christian, then started actually learning about religions and chose Atheism as my path.
Belived in shinto when I lived in aisa now I'm an atheist
Before..Christian, now Agnosticism ^^
I was born and raised Catholic. I was never into it (never went to church or anything).
Then I became a deist, it suits me just fine.

Also, I don't think Atheism is a religion. You can't base a religion on not believing in something.
I'm raised as an atheist and I'm still one.
Raised Roman Catholic, now a Agnostic Theist.
I still adhere to Christian traditions, though. There are a bunch of people who aren't really religious but they still stick to their traditions.

I salute you.
As for myself, formerly protestant Christian, now agnostic for similar reasons to the OP.
I follow the path of Discordianism.
Well I don't, but nobody seems to know what it is, so I can just say I do and no one objects.
I used to be a part of Christianity.
Until i saw things that "God" would rape the people, that did that stuff, up the butt. No lube.
That never happened.
So I'm Atheist.
I was brought up as a buddhist, without any knowledge about buddhism other than the importance of filial piety. I've observed that my relatives have always been praying about money and striking lottery, I've grown to become sick of that because I despised the idea that everyone I've seen worshipped only the god of fortune out of so many gods
Then I followed my brother and became an athiest, I believed in science because I thought everything can be proven by science..
Then one fine day, my old friend decided to ask me out to his church. I find the people there cool and I've seen miracles happened in my life so many times after knowing about the existence of their God that I could no longer call it a coincidence, I eventually became a christian and my whole life changed for the better
Athiesim then I became an agnostic, here I am standing.
