• Laptop Screen Problems - Is it screen, ribbon or inverter?

Hi, My misses laptop has developed a problem with the screen. I have very limited knowledge when it comes to the hardware side of laptops. My guess is, is it's either the screen itself, the ribbon at the back or possibly the inverter(but I doubt it as the screen wouldn't work at all). For now I have given her a spare monitor to use, but obviously I would like to fix it for her. Here is a photo of the screen. I've look into the parts, there not THAT expensive really. A screen is about £70, which is a lot cheaper than they used to be! Basically, what's your opinion? What do you think the problem is, which part/s do think needs replacing?
If the inverter was shot, the backlight would be dead. I'd guess its either the LCD screen itself went bad or the data cable to the screen got crimped or damaged.
It could also be the RAM. The GFX cards in Laptops uses a bit of the RAM as video memory. Broken or faulty RAM might give disturbances and/or artifacts. You can test this if there is more than 1 RAM module inside. Pull them out and test them 1 by 1.

Cheers for the heads up. EDIT: Checked the ram. Happened to have some spare RAM that fits. Problem was still there. I'm certain it's the screen. I will replace both the screen and ribbon. Fingers crossed.
I've seen this plenty of times, it's caused by damage to the flexible PCB on the back of the display or a worn out driver. There is not much you can do to fix it so just replace the monitor.
