Bye Bye Warframe.
Perfect world is one of the best F2P publishers. They usually keep their games 100% free with only cosmetics being able to be bought.
So it's actually confirmed the sale went through? That's disappointing. Hopefully there'll be at least a few more updates where PW doesn't have any say.

No Fucking Thanks.
I was out the moment i heard Perfect World come through the fucking door.
Im not having another Blacklight situation.
"A document on Sumpo’s site reveals that Perfect World and the chicken company signed a “non-binding” agreement on June 30, to the effect that all of Digital Extremes’ shares would be split between the two of them."
you mean all of DE is gonna be owned by PW because sumpo is just a holding company
Let's hope they don't cock this up
Well...
Fuck.

You mean the situation where you can rent guns for hella cheap in game currency and then buy them after only a day or two of playing.
Last I played BL:R they changed the pricing quite a bit, so getting parts permanently with in game currency was impossible for most items and unreasonable for the rest.
[editline]8th July 2014[/editline]
Which is a real shame because I really enjoyed it.

This wasn't always the case, on launch it was useable but after the PW buyout they ramped up all the prices which is not good news for Warframe.
even on launch, getting perma parts was rather difficult
even on launch, getting perma parts was rather difficult
It was possible, but it required to spend quite a few hours to get the receiver parts.
Shit I didnt know that about blacklight. Sorry.
And STO and other things. The main problem with PWO is two fold.
a) focus on cosmetic updates over gameplay updates
b) add in lockbox style buys
That said, this article isn't bringing anything new. It's still talking about the same nonbinding agreement.
So what would they change? You already could buy materials with real money in Warframe when I stopped playing. I guess they add now an option to buy individual power up cards. Still warframe was always too farm intensive to get the "end game" content.

it'd become about 50x more grindy than it is already.

I would say STO focuses on Gameplay more then cosmetic. They have not released any cosmetic stuff for a while now.
Well, for one, they'll switch to the horribly overpriced ZEN currency, making the already expensive market prices even more bloated (Expansion pack sized content in STO, EG the ships and such costing $60 for the set when it's really barely more content)
- Putting anything remotely interesting behind a lockbox paywall
- Fuck up balancing for all weapons, making the best premium only, nerfing them after they become public
- Horrific rental systems
- Taking 90% of the development direction from the original devs

Don't forget switching the whole website and forums over to PW's Servers, throwing in all of this other random bullshit with Facebook likes for 15 Free Plat or Boosts.

The interesting stuff behind the Lockbox is stuff CBS won't allow Cryptic to give to everyone straight up.
Expansion packs and missions are all 100% free in STO.

You don't have to open any lockboxes to be successful. You can continue playing without having to open a single box. Cosmetic updates? I don't know if you're playing the same game, but recently we've been drowning in quality-of-life improvements and gameplay content.

Now the STO expansion pack is 100% free, the Legacy and Starter Packs aren't even required to play the game just a nice extra for those who want to support the game. As said about you can buy everything in a lockbox on the marketplace (exchange) with ingame Energy credits. What rental systems anyway? Balancing in STO is though biased, people tend to move toward Fleet gear but that's just bonus, you can do without it. The last point is definitely invalid without any proof.
STO is a terrible example for a "bad" PWE game. If you were here pre-F2P during Atari's reign over the game you would be happy to see all the content ingame.

"horribly overpriced"
I'm assuming that you believe that platinum is somehow NOT overpriced?
I've never seen such a shitty in-game currency, you have to spend a fortune to get enough for like a single weapon, its shit and half the stuff you can buy with it isn't even worth it.

I have to agree with this, never once did I feel like I needed to buy either of those packs.
I never buy ships in STO because I think I need them, I buy ships because I want them, and want them to have money to make more cool ships.
It might be different for PvPers, but I don't PvP.

As I guy who played 300-400 hours of Blacklight, you're full of shit.
Flame ammo isn't even fucking good, the best weapon right now is the stock Assault Rifle because they changed the recoil system. It used to be the HAR which cost money however if you aren't retarded and do a bit of trading you could get it for free, that's what I did. I amassed GP and then did a trade for it. The only p2w thing is how Lightweight Heroes have full gear slots while with normal equipment you only get 1-2.
