meh, game looked better at its first version, the alpha or whatever, now its like a generic slasher.
eeeeeh.....Seems interesting but I don't see my disappointment on how the game turned out going away anytime soon
Sometimes it really feels like I'm the only person really waiting for this game.

This is what happens when you slap a bunch of licensed shit into a slasher developer's hands who were no doubt told to make it look a specific way.
The whole idea behind this game prior to them getting it was beyond complex hence why it got thrown to the wind for a while. I've no doubt Kojima is gonna feel like shit knowing he couldn't actually complete his vision this time round but hopefully he'll be optimistic about MGS5.
This game looks like it went though 3 stages.
The original trailer which was quite serious, the anime bullshit and now it seems like it's a lot more like the original but not quite there.
the slicing seems like a gimmick to me but damn, it's a good one
Ehh, the trailer has renewed some of my hope for this game.
Still, the original alpha version looked so much more badass. I'm upset Kojima Productions let it go.
I agree, in the original trailers I was basically like, OMG I can slice a melon in bits and do what I like, and jizzing over the in game physics, now It just Ninja Gaiden with Raiden from MGS2/4, so it should have a name like Metal Ninja Raiden or some shit, still though, the physics are still there, so I am still anticipating this game so long as it has a release on 360 unlike MGS4.....
[del]When they removed the slicing from the announcement, I lost all interest in this game.[/del]
Ugh too tired to post properly. Meant that the new direction just seems to be NG with some slicing, was way more interesting at announcement.
It looks worse than it was when they first showed it off but it still looks like it'll be a fuckload of fun for me, looking forward to it.
Considering it's made by Platinum Games (aka the makers of Bayonetta) I have no doubts that this is going to be fun as fuck.
Kojima has been reeling in the craziness a bit apparently. Platinum Games are only going to get away with so much before hell tells them to calm the fuck down and rethink a certain aspect. Hence why this iteration of the game actually looks less, well, silly compared to what it was.

I couldn't tell you exactly how big the game itself was, but it was way bigger than a standard DVD disc. Wasn't MGS4 the first PS3 game to actually use the entirety of a dual layered BR disc?
1. what a sexy ass raiden has
2. what a sexy hud this game has
3. you know hideo was involved when youve got a hidden bikini lady easter egg.
I haven't been keeping up the MGRR but it seems like there's some disappointment in this new trailer, can anyone tell me what was different from alpha to this one?

That's actually a throwback at Metal Gear Solid 1, as you had to switch to disk 2 at that exact part of the game.

As the above user stated, that section of the game was a joke for MGS1. In MGS1 that section was the exact moment you had to switch to disc 1.
Oh god that name is so horrible it makes me cringe when I read it, Revengeance, it sounds like a 12 year old came up with it and thought it sounded super cool.
when your game gets so stupid that kojima has to tell you to settle down, you know you've gone too far
Yeah that's the kinda concerning bit. His studio had built this awesome idea, the cutting mechanics, but didn't know what to do with it. Platinum games got given the project, and had so many ideas for it, and how to make the game "bitchin", that Kojima has had to keep an eye on them so they don't make the game stray too far from MGS.

I don't think it was really that hard to do what Kojima intended to do first. The only problem with it was that the ones working on it were almost flying blind and having lots of trouble.

I sort of want it. It looks very interesting, and I think we can play with a bit of stealth aswell.
If only I had a console...

Heh, Raiden blocking and grabing a Metal Gear's blade as big as a bulding, hurling it all in the air and chopping it up :v:
Still has some crazy stuff but its much more tamed now. I think they found an acceptable middle point between the first trailer that made us jizz and the second trailer that made us bleed.

People are late about it, but...
The first trailer showed the game having what you would expect from Gray Fox in MGS1. Chopping up guards, elegant cut and slash and no weird ass stuff happening. It was gonna tell the story of Raiden between SOL and GotP, how he was turned into a cyborg.
The second trailer however showed the total new direction of the game, set after GotP, as a spin-off, with Raiden fighting huge ass metal gears and other cyborgs exactly like in a DMC game, with the fuckton of slashing and flamboyant exaggerated moves.
If you could call the game realistic, this is where the realism left the building.
This trailer however shows a mix of both, still with a DMCish gameplay but tonned down to be more like the first trailer and much less ridiculous.
In short, you went from a Gray Fox-like character, with stealth "cut whatever you want" action, to Dante "YEAH BAR BRAWL FUCK SHIT UP" demented gameplay, to this mix of both.
I feel kind of bad commenting on a game I'll most likely never play because I don't own any console but I think the game should just be called Metal Gear Rising and even though they brought back the custom slashing I still wish it looked and most importantly felt more like the first version they showed.
I am surprised there hasn't been some sort of spin off where you would sneak around in WW2 as The Boss.
why
why does this game exist
why
why does this game exist
Because why the fuck not? After seeing raiden chop up all those mini metal gear is MGS4 most of the audience have been wishing for this alot. I probably won't be picking this up unless it gets stellar reviews or something.

kojima doesn't even want to do the metal gear series anymore that's why he tried up to tie up as many loose ends as possible in 4

Except he wasn't involved at all. This was developed by the people who did Bayonetta.
kojima doesn't even want to do the metal gear series anymore that's why he tried up to tie up as many loose ends as possible in 4
He's been "stopping" it ever since MGS2. It's pretty well known he wanted to stop MGS every game past the first but he always gives into fan demand in the end. He is very hard on himself and ends up thinking he hasn't done the fans right even though he's one of few developers who can keep his own series solid (no pun intended) in every iteration.
MGS5 is being made purely out of fan demand and the fact that Kojima is hoping he can push the new team to work on something that's a clear evolution of his ideas.

Dude come on. As much as I love MGS, Kojima needs a break from 2stealth4u gameplay.
After all, it is called Metal Gear Rising and not MGS

90% of the fanbase either hate his guts or think nothing of him whatsoever.
Raiden's presence was utterly useless and not needed at all in MGS4, every time he showed up and was involved with something it could have easily been avoided or the events could have very simply happened a slightly different way.

MGS5 is going in a slightly different direction as Peace Walker did. Not to mention he's got the ZOE series under his belt and is making the third game now.

I don't know about this.
I never liked Raiden, I mean, fuck no one out of japan likes Raiden, and this doesn't even have anything to do with Metal Gear, really, if it's far in the future ([sp]Snake's presumably dead[/sp]) completely different aesthetic, feel to it
I mean, the whole point of Metal gear games was sneaking through and killing as little people as possible
I'm gonna need to play the game before I make more judgements, but first impressions I won't be purchasing.
