• Should I overclock my compy?

I have a Clarkdale Core i3-550 3.2ghz 2 core 4 thread CPU that I plan to overclock because it's oldness is starting to bottleneck my games as there are noticeable frame skips and such. It is especially annoying in first person shooters such as Bioshock Infinite. This is not a graphics card problem as I have seen my Task Manager to see that my CPU is running 70-90%. Although, I'm not sure overclocking it is the answer. Should I buy a new CPU? Should I get a newer motherboard and a new CPU for that? Or should I stay with what I have? Answer these questions plas! If you believe I should OC, please tell me some recommended fans/water cooling for my computer that you have had best experience with, at a decent price if possible. Thanks peeps. Edit: Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E LX Random Access Memory: 8gb DDR3 Graphic Processing Unit: nVidia Geforce GTX 650 Central Processing Unit: Intel Core i3 550 3.2ghz Clarkdale 1156 LGA PSU: Dashit PSU 450watt
You can try overclocking but I doubt it will help solve frame skips etc. If you are going to upgrade, you will need to buy a new motherboard and CPU or try to get your hands on a refurbished socket 1156 i7. Depending on your budget, ofcourse. You can also consider re installing your system with a fresh copy of Windows 7 or 8 x64 and installing the latest drivers. If your CPU is 70-90% while not gaming, it could mean anything; Windows update or just a load of crap installed.

My CPU is only like 13% with a load of programs running.
I'd still try to re install everything to exclude software problems for your frame skipping.
You're not gonna get very far overclocking that CPU.
