Hey guys, I'm wondering if my PC will be able too use PS2 emulator without FPS being too low. Here are my specs: ATI Radeon HD 4670 Gigabyte M720-US3 AMD Athlon II X3 440 4 GB Ram How much FPS do you think I will be able to get, if I can get it at all?
The problem isn't your computer, it's the emulator itself.
Aren't there few emulators out there? I plan to use PCSX2, I heard that it isn't too bad.
I have an i5 and a 5870 and playing PS2 games is difficult. Mainly due to lag issues and bugs. Dont bother emulating.
I see. So it turns out that it's better to get cheap second hand PS2 now than trying to emulate. :v: Tho just to ask once more, I planned to try and play FF X on PC, and it seems that this guy with weaker specs is able to pull it off: Are you sure that I wont be able to run older PS2 games? I'm mainly doing it for nostalgia sake, since I sold my PS2 years ago.
I really depends on the game. Something like Gran Turismo 4 is completely unplayable at anything under 60FPS (which is very hard to maintain in PCSX2), some others are fine. Your mileage will vary. Just try it and see how it plays.
Don't bother. I once tried to play Tomb Raider on a PS2 emulator... Lara's face... NEVER SLEEP AGAIN.

And it only works on some computers somehow, driver related.
Oh, and here's their support list if anyone needs it. http://pcsx2.net/compat.php?&c=c&s1=0&s2=0&s3=0&s4=0&s5=1&p=2

But Gran Turismo 3 was unplayable, barely eeking out half speed. Jak and Daxter is sort of mixed. Its sort playable, but it randomly jumps from perfect to uncomfortably slow. So yeah, try it first. Not all games are designed as equals obviously, and some will work better than others.
