I want to update my computer to continue being usable for a few years.
It's already been working well for a while but now with Bioshock Infinite and a lot of other stuff coming out I want to upgrade so I'll still be able to run things later.
All parts below are currently what I am using.
Power supply:CoolerMaster RP-500-PCAR
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM, just 2 sticks of stock 2GB memory. No branding in sight on them.
GPU card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Things I don't plan on changing:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130104-1431)
Motherboard: Asus P5QL
case: CoolerMaster Elite 330
My monitors are both 1680 x 1050 but I only play on one monitor at a time, second one's for extra info/browsing etc.
HDD needs more space, I'll just get a low priced 1 TB HDD if I can.
OH yeah and I almost forgot: Canada, British Columbia.
Budget: $200 - $700.
How the computer compares right now:
It's all right but it struggles with any game that lacks any optimization which include but are not limited to:
Planetside 2, Mechwarrior online, Team Fortress 2.
It's going to be running the above games + bioshock infinite and hopefully any games that come out in the next 4 years.
What I expect after the upgrade:
->20 FPS with high settings on most modern games, 60-70 on medium.
So yeah, I don't know what else to add. I'm definitely looking at improvements for the CPU and GPU + memory but the GPU is what I'm most interested in replacing.

Forgot to mention, PLEASE save your important data, has changing the motherboard causes Windows to take a big shit, you will probably need to reinstall it.
I don't know if you've checked newegg lately, but you can't even GET 775 intel's anymore. Personally, I'd go with an AM3. or the FX Series. (both AMD.)
If you want to talk to me face to face, you can add me to skype. I'll personally help you out and make sure you get the best bang for your buck.
Just PM me.
Why? The build posted above is great for the price.

Oh my god, please no AMD, they are very slow because they are half cores, or more like 2 cores that works together, and that slows down becuase of the shared modules...
Also the Intel is more stable compared to AMD, I know that because my extremely crappy coded program, crashed before Intel did, the Intel was a Pentium 4, and the AMD was an Athlon II x3 440, so yeah...
You're right, the build is nice for the price. I agree. However, if it was me, I'd go AMD. I've had great luck with them and fairly bad with Intel. Might just be me.
Like I said, I would use an AMD.

But Intel blows AMD out of the water CPU wise right now, I can't find a reason to go AMD right now other than you really want to go cheap budget or you really need extra cores for rendering/anything else that can utilize more than 4 cores.
And I'm by no mean an Intel fanboy, I used intel for the first time in 2011 (On a PC I built, ive used intel PCs before that I haven't owned)
