Basically a quake/unreal remake.
Of which, I approve.
I heard nothing but bad from the 360 version.
Going off the trailer, it looks a lot like Quake III mixed with Unreal, which is a good thing.
Maybe it'll last longer than the 20 seconds it managed on xbox live.
I swear this was free for the longest time?
Edit:
Nevermind, not the same thing.
Looks great, but 4v4 max is a major, major setback. Give me 32+ players, then I'll pick it up.

This isn't Battlefield.

Nor do I want it to be. My times with UT2004 were with big servers and hectic action. I want a shooter that lets me have fun, not put me in a competitive dick-waving contest every time I join a server.

Of course you have, this sort of game wasn't meant for gamepads.
Needs minimum 12v12 and maps suited for that to go well on pc. If people want low player count arena games they'll just go play quake live.
I was gonna pre-order this, but after reading what I saw in this thread, maybe I'll wait for the reviews.
Still looks like a pretty sweet game though. Will probably just play it with friends.
I think I'd rather just play it for free instead.
Wait wasn't this an open source game?
Wait wasn't this an open source game?
It is. It's a game based on the Quake 3 open source code. This is apparently a new version made for a commercial release. Truth to be told, Quake 3 will still always be better than dumb clones.
4v4? Are you kidding me?
Who the fuck came up with that idea?
Red Eclipse and OpenArena (same as quake 3 but with different models) are free and beat Nexuiz easily

This version is not.

I remember reading about some major argument in the open source community for this, and thats how the commercial one was born.

Still the same thing.
You can't justify that a game is different only because it's a different engine.

The change between these engines make changes to movement and other things which affect gameplay, so yes.
well personally I'm looking forward to it, there is a beta coming out begininng of april so I hope to try it out then, then probably buy it. Besides, its only £5 if you can get the 4 pack with some mates, its hardly expensive.
Plus it will have modding and a map editor.
You can get this for $8.00 on Green Man Gaming as opposed to Steam's $8.99 with the promo code PROMO-FESTI-VAL20.
Also you can activate it on Steam.
