I think the success of MvM depends on how quickly they release new maps/missions.
The gamemode itself is pretty great but if they don't add more it'll be dead within a couple weeks.
I'm sure MvM is fun but at this rate I'll never find out because getting into a game is damn near impossible!
I played some with 5 friends today.
It's really fun, but the maps are incredibly short.
i spent 20 minutes trying to get into a game last night, finally got in and as soon as the bots spawned everyone started lagging so bad it was completely unplayable
Look for MvM servers in the server browser, its much faster than waiting for the matchmaking.
Use the server browser for MVM. Using the coop button is useless.
Just be sure that there is less than 6 people on the server since you'll just become a spectator and wait otherwise.
As for MvM itself. It's... Uh, ok. I love the upgrades, I absolutely hate how you won't even get half of them. Waves are so damn few. 8 rounds? Really? That's it and then we do it again? You have this shitton of upgrades we have to choose and we could have gotten them all if you made more waves which would in every possible way be more fun.
I don't understand why there is a limit of 6 people to play, why can't the difficulty just rise/lower based on the amount of players? It's kind of annoying.
The fact that you can't really do all waves without an engineer sucks. Why do you have to force one poor guy to be a specific class? Especially when it's the least interesting to play in my opinion.
It's a good concept done bad if you ask me. It's just so limiting, limiting the players playstyle and number, limits the weapons that are useful, has no wave flexibility.
psssssst~
[sp]people are hosting private servers for fp members. check the tf2 section.[/sp]

Because the servers actually have 32 slots and the other 24 are taken by bots 90% of the time.
They promised me loot, then asked me to pay for it.
I never opened the MvM menu again.

Your loss.

From what I'm seeing people say, it really doesn't seem like it.

Sorry I just think ignoring the entire gamemode becuase a few cosmetic items are only avaliable to people who pay is dumb.
I didn't know cosmetics were such a big deal sorry

90% of TF2's community would disagree, that's for sure.

And why would a bot need to take up a slot again?

This pretty much you best be hoping someone makes a mod that gives 30 rounds
I've played through the three main missions with some friends on a private server
Very fun, but the difficulty doesn't scale by player count. Based on my experiences as players had to leave, prepare to get your shit kicked in if you have fewer than 4 people.

Justin Bieber is popular, that doesn't mean his music is any good. I'm sorry but if you're going to use the "most popular opinion" argument then you might as well just be saying "Hats are everything to me in this game."
Stop fucking whining over a few cosmetic items (that aren't even that good might I add.) The gamemode itself is absolute fun with 5 coordinated friends on Skype. If you're going to ignore the entire gamemode just because you have to pay 99 cents in order to get one of the new cosmetic items, then it IS your loss and you ARE missing out on a good chance to have some killer fun with friends.
And why would a bot need to take up a slot again?
Because they're the same kind of bot as offline practice uses. Since they're filling in for a player, they take up a slot. Yes, they could have made it say 6 slots are on the server and hide the bot slots, but it's not that big an issue.
I wish they would fix the Bots being blue and the defenders having only the Red skin, seems like a pretty goddamn obvious thing for Valve to just ignore.

I expect they wanted to make sure the gamemode worked properly on a mass scale before screwing with the core code too much, imo.

Have they actually said that's not intentional? It makes sense when you compare it to normal gameplay. RED defends in almost every gamemode, and BLU attacks in almost every gamemode. Plus, the robots needed a color on them to stand out in the environment and be more visually interesting in general.
It goes against the story they've given us for MvM, but I can see why they'd do that from a gameplay perspective.

Still can't join any because the moment you click on even an empty server it's instantly full and the ones that aren't full bitch at how you didn't use the matchmaking system. It's bullshit. I don't wanna wait for 20 minutes to play my damn game nor do I wanna send a large portion of time clicking on every server in the browser and hope beyond hope I get one that isn't full.

More like a very annoying 30%.
this new gamemode is awesome, it's like combining Killing Floor with Call of Duty Zombie mod. I like it very much and would want to play more because I love being a upgrade-a-holic. "berserker" demo swordsman is hard to play in this gamemode.
now if only they made an RTS/RPG gamemode similar to savage on this game then I would be on this bitch 24/7.
I was expecting a Carbon Copy of Zombies, But it's pretty great.
Was playing with a few friends yesterday, granted some of the waves are really easy. (Looking at you one Giant heavy with no medics)
I find 3 things a bit ( / a lot) disappointing, the first 2 being purely cosmetic:
1.The robots are on BLU team, that's fine if it was only on the technical side of things, but they have BLU colored items and skins.. Very irking after looking at all the images and the trailer, especially considering how the trailer shows the strong need of both team needing to get together to defeat GRAY's GRAY robots.
2.Giants.. Are not giants, completely different from the trailer.
3.It doesn't seem to scale to the number of players.. And bots don't work (on the player's side), it should either scale the overall difficulty compared to the number of players, or have bots automatically fill in empty slots and leave when real players join, one of the two.
And this might be but a personal opinion, but "TANKS" are very disappointing, when you look at the image of the trail on the ground and how they say "we don't know what that is, but it seems huge and seem to run on human blood, we think so, at least", you expect some huge-ass rolling machine of death delivery, not a big box on wheel that go from A to B and do nothing but drop bomb in the hatch.. I was very disappointed when I saw what the *TANK* was, I was almost expecting the tank to be a giant sentry on wheels with the top-half of a robo-engineer peeking out, controlling it and would be the weak point.
Though most of the "problems" are mostly visual, it still feels very unsatisfying to destroy BLU colored bots instead of GRAY colored ones after looking at the comic and the trailer, it feels really lackluster in that category, especially considering they HAVE the gray skin version, since they USED them..
I'm just waiting for the custom maps to roll out, that will be some good times.

It's still stupid that you can't at least randomly gain a loot when winning the game. The fact you have absolutely no reward defeats the purpose of continuing this gamemode.
Also I agree with what dgg and bragdras said about the gamemode itself. It's cool but the execution was kind of poor in the end. I seriously hope there will be either some fixes from Valve or from the community itself.
