• Migrating HDD to new system, not working

My old computer's motherboard stopped working, so I bought a new case, motherboard, cpu (upgraded from old dual core to a core i7), psu and RAM. I also migrated my graphics card across. I was under the impression that my hard drive, running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, would work just fine with this new architecture. Unfortunately that seems not to be the case. I have access to BIOS, but when I try to boot up windows, it freezes briefly, the blue screen flashes too quickly for me to read even a single word and the computer seems to restart without turning off. It then passes the bios post screen again and gives me the opportunity to run startup repair. I do so, and it finds no fault on the disk (I also ran checkdisk and found no error) but instead said that it was the result of "unspecified configuration changes." It advises that I unplug a device such as a camera or music player even though the only USB devices plugged in are my mouse and keyboard. I also tried booting from my windows 7 disc, but short of reinstalling windows, it can't seem to help me. This is my first comprehensive build, so I may have plugged in one of the USB front panel incorrectly, but I doubt that that's the problem. Also, the directory of my hard drive was C: in the old comp, and this new one is reading it as D: Please help!
You need to re-install windows when switching to a new motherboard.
You're absolutely sure? Will I lose all my files and programs and such?
Load up a Linux live CD and copy anything you need to save to a usb drive. For programs just write down and re-install.
Will a linux live cd allow me to access the files? I've never heard of anything like that before. edit: I will literally sell my soul to someone who can successfully help me with this.
