Unless you've already bought it, get an i5 750 unless you do rendering. Otherwise, you're pretty good.
Nice case, I have the Xigmatek Asgard, same GPU as me and just under the amount of HDD space I have. Its a nice rig you have there. Don't get a GTX260
Is there anything wrong with Hitachi HDD's? Its just I have had this for 1 and a half years and I have had no trouble what so ever.
Hitachi Deathstars are the worst harddrives ever made :roflolmao:
Hitachi Deathstars are the worst harddrives ever made :roflolmao:
You're talking about the IDE drives Hitachi put out after they bought the disk business from IBM right? Because current Hitachi's are probably some of the best disks on the market.
FYI, its a SATA drive....
Hitachi's are probably some of the best disks on the market.
that's one funny misspelling of Samsung F3 you've got there

It costs $65 and sucks nuts.

Better PSU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009 If you like money, get this instead of the i7 875k. If you're a gamer, it's not necessary.
:barf:
you're concerned about the hitachi (which, despite popular belief, is actually good now) drive, when there is a maxtor drive right above it? You just lost all credibility. along with all the others dicking about the hitachi and totally ignoring the maxtor drive
no the 750 lacks top end power
The 750 is pretty much the best gaming CPU out there. You won't be seeing much performance increase if you use an i7 since games don't use the i7's fancy features. The i7 line is best for rendering.

I work in IT for a supermajor, we wouldn't fucking touch a Samsung drive with a barge pole because they're unproven and fucking slow. We have millions of dollars worth of Hitachi SANs though... I own 12 Hitachi drives, and 5 Samsung drives, the Samsungs repeatedly fall out of RAID5 arrays on my Areca and Adaptec controllers and the Hitachi's are solid as hell and far quicker. If you're going to rip on Hitachi drives for the good old Deathstar days then you need to look at the newer Seagate 7200.11 line, I had 6 1.5TB drives all of which developed problems with firmware, clicking and full failures. Hitachi make drives that just work.
tell me what is wrong with maxtor
Maxtor is Seagates low end drives and they're made of fail.
tell me what is wrong with maxtor
Anecdote time: In mid/late 2006 I bought a 300 GB maxtor drive. All goes well (other than it being slow as fuck) for a week, until I have to return it. Thinking nothing of it, I mail it off, waiting to get a new drive (swap only from the company I bought it through). Note that for all periods between me having the maxtor drive, I was using an 80 GB Hitachi drive. It's a little over a week later, I get a package from Fedex, open it up, and there is my shiny new Maxtor drive. It arrived DOA. I pack it back up send it off. Another week goes by, and I get my drive in the mail. and what do you know, this time it works. I spend about two weeks with my beauty before it dies. Back in the mail. One more week, I'm sure to have my nice new 300 GB drive now. Nope. Nearing a level of furious no mortal can comprehend, I send off another dead drive. This time it takes a lot longer to arrive. It was more like two weeks instead of the normal week. The package arrives, thinking I've finally ventured into the high-capacity drive range, I toss this drive into my computer. Huzzah it works, I thought. For about a month, it worked. I put the drive in a milk crate in my closet. btw taking it out for the first time in four years, just for facepunch: [editline]08:40AM[/editline] avoid that logo like the plague

No people like you annoy me. We've all seen from benchmarks that the F3s are the best harddrives around (appart from Velociraptors and really expensive WD) and we've recommended them to hundreds of people and no one has complained. Hitachi, on the other hand, we would never recommend to anyone because we all know that they are a lot of rubbish that blow up within a week

I see many threads on HardOCP where people have 50 Hitachi drives in a RAID and not one was DOA, not one has fallen out of the array and they all are reliable as hell, not to mention they're the fastest 2TB drives on the market. Where are these benchmarks of 2TB F3's beating out Hitachi 2TB drives? Come back when you have some facts please.
there is so much wrong with this I do not know where to start
That's a great retort. You meant to say, I don't know what to say so I'll come up with some glib remark like not knowing where to start. How about you come back with some facts instead of your opinions? Hitachi drives used to be shockingly bad, we all know this. But that was over 5 years ago. Segates are currently shockingly bad, the 7200.11 line is probably something Seagate never want to remember. Samsung high capacity high performance drives simply don't exist. This is 2010, 3TB drives are now coming out and 2TB isn't that big anymore. I never said Samsung were crap, I never said I wouldn't buy one, I own 5. I wouldn't bank my entire SAN on them though as they simply do not have a huge amount of experience in the storage market. And FYI I just responded to someone who obviously has no idea about the current Hitachi drives saying that actually, they're some of the best drives on the market at the moment. If you are after a high performance cheap 2TB drive, the Hitachi is what I would recommend. If you had money to burn I would recommend a WD one. Samsung only provide slow eco 2TB drives currently and they're not something I'd want to install an OS on if I only had 1 disk.
