• Home-made Screen/ Small, High-Res Monitor

I have been looking for a new computer monitor. Unfortuantley, I don't have much space, and anything above 17 inches is a bit of a push. However, no matter how hard I look I cannot seem to find a small (15.6 or smaller) monitor with a Full HD resolution. I know panels such things exist, because some laptops feature 1080p panels (the Sony Vaio Z even has the option for a 1080p Panel at 13.3 inches). I have had the idea of buying a replacement LCD unit such as this, and then wiring it up to a display driver card. I know the cards can be had for about £30, so that would get me a full HD 15.6 Monitor for just over £100. So, has any had any experience using a display driver card with a laptop screen, or has anyone ever seen a 15.6 inch or under high-res screen?
Make sure you actually know what card you need for the screen. I looked into the matter because of a netbook screen I have, and those things are hard as fuck to find.

I know of a someone who has bought from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/njytouch before, and said even though they didn't have the correct board in stock for his screen, they managed to source one. It says they're away untill tommorow, so I'll email them at njytouch with the model number of the screen, and see what they say from there. It would be cool if it had a long cable, as then I could hide the box away in a little enclosure and just have an ultra-thin screen.
Ok, just know you will probalby also need a power supply and a microcontroller (arduino/Pic) to control everything. The biggest screen manefacturers in the world are Samsung LG and Sharp almost all screens for every brand are made by them. See if you can find an outlet for them. www.farnell.com or www.mouser.com might have them. [editline]16th January 2012[/editline] Bad reading, display driver card. Those 2 links are still an alternate source for high res screens though.
