So I've hated the job I am currently holding (my first job) for quite a while now. There are many reasons: issues with the schedule (I'm supposed to find out if I work the next week's Sunday-Saturday on Thursday, sometimes the schedule will not be posted until Friday evening or Saturday) , poor customer service, low quality store interior and service. I'm the only one that works the front end. There is no bagger, the "bagger" just cleans restrooms and pulls in carts the whole time and doubles as a stocking associate. It's just me sitting at register 4 all day while the other 7 registers are vacant. Anyways, that's besides the matter.
I'm looking at a second job at somewhere that isn't a crap grocery store. I really like computers and technology, and hell, if I applied at a place like Staples at least I'd be halfway interested in my work and surrounding. I know Staples isn't the zenith of computer supply stores, but I'm not old enough to work at CompUSA and all of the other stores are way far away. So I went online and applied at a technology customer assistant and front-end associate. I answered all questions honestly and sincerely, I pasted a resume that looked something like this (not formatted):
[quote=Resume]
MICHAEL E. (LAST NAME)
1324 (ADDRESS) South
(CITY), (STATE / ZIP)
Phone: (HOME)
Alt: (CELL)
(EMAIL)
Summary:
I am a 17 year-old looking for a new job. I am a friendly person, and am easy to get along with. I have no objections to handling customers. I have the means to help answer questions a customer might have. I have experience working with a group of people to do a job, and work on tasks. I have previous customer service and retail experience.
Education:
2011 (SCHOOL) (LOCATION)
Junior
I am currently enrolled at (SCHOOL) and I am in the 11th grade. I take multiple AP and honors classes, elective courses include TV Production, Creative Photography, and AP European History. I plan to go on to college after high school and I would like to work in the fields of Graphic Design or Cinema.
Skills:
I know how to greet, help, and communicate politely with people. I am very computer literate. I know that after I am trained for my duties, I can help customers, and complete assigned tasks with ease. I am good with computers and have many hours working the cash register and handling money. I have experience with handling almost every type of transaction (WIC, EBT, Debit, Credit, Check, Cash, Gift Card, etc.), and checking ID for tobacco and alcoholic products. I have also received training pertaining to stocking shelves, janitorial tasks, and keeping a clean and respectable front end.
Objective:
I am looking for a new (second) job, Staples is a very prestigious company, and I enjoy shopping there and take interest in the products they sell. Staples is also close to home, so driving there, and arriving on time would be easy for me. If hired at Staples, I plan on staying throughout the rest of my high school career and I am willing to work the hours assigned.
Activities:
I have participated in volunteering for events such as Relay for Life, and have worked on small projects for the American Cancer Society. I have also participated in DECA, an organization directed towards students aiming towards entrepreneurship. Other than that, I enjoy building and using computers, photography, playing guitar and doing activities with friends.

Alrighty, so I'd like a little CC on my resume that I posted. I was thinking about picking up some nice, different colored (nothing too drastic) paper with a slightly different size so that when I went in within the next week or so to turn in a paper copy of my resume, it would stand out more.
-Is there anything I should add / omit
-Is there too much info or enough info
-What else can I do to have them recognize me. I feel I am capable of performing almost any task they throw at me. I love technology and I built my own computer and diagnose other people's computers all the time. I also have customer service / retail / janitorial experience.
Any tips?
[tl;dr: I have a job, I hate it, I applied at Staples for 2 positions online and attached a resume and was totally honest yet answered questions with what they wanted to hear (about how I'm personable and not a creepy shut-in with no social skills), I'm about to go hand in resume, what should I do to enhance my chances of getting a call back?]

Sorry about the essay.
"Staples is a very prestigious company"
None of this, it makes you look bad.
So I should take out anything that involves the company I'm applying for? Alrighty, that's understandable.
Ignore such nay sayers.
Well, it is a good application, go and apply. :buddy:
Cool, I applied last night in two different positions. I guess now all I gotta do is look nice and go up there to hand in a hard copy to the hiring manager. Anyone ever worked at Staples before?
That was easy.
I have no objections to handling customers.
i think you should omit that, it makes it seem like you're saying "well, if i *must* deal with customers then i will, but i'd rather not." also, i don't know about in the US but i wouldn't really say that staples is a prestigious company, and if you put that in it sounds a bit like brown nosing.
