that's a bit too much ain't it
It's almost like they intentionally want this game to fail, they just keep doing stupid shit with it.
that's a bit too much ain't it
It's a tad expensive. Though the people who are playing this will be people who are used to WoW style subscription fees or people who love Elder Scrolls so much they would sell their first born child for a 30 day subscription.
It's also really very shit.
it's like they are wanting this game to fail I'm hoping it will
Deserves to crash and burn for how ham-handedly they're exploiting a franchise.
I see the TEStanic is ready to set sail.
It's going to go F2P within a year after release.
When they see only a few select people will actually buy the game, they'll realise how stupid this is and put it F2P I'm sure of it
The beta was fun, but I think this is a bit too much.
Gaming websites should save themselves some time and write their "ESO going f2p" stories now so all they have to do is upload them when it happens. Its not like I want it to fail but didn't the Old Republic prove that this kind of mmo just doesn't work anymore.
Jeez, and people thought TOR tanked hard. At least TOR recovered and is doing fine now, but this... I can only see it crashing an burning. Even people I know who are huge suckers for MMOs that don't even know TES lore enough to get pissed off by the shitty handling of it were totally turned off by the beta. But who knows, maybe there's enough people who have an interest that I don't know about it. I just have my doubts. I've yet to see anyone whose played it have anything good to say about it (myself included). Guess I'll just have TOR hold me over til Wildstar and skip this entirely. Shame because I love The Elder Scrolls so damn much.
Should have done fallout online This looks like another generic ye olde magic and dragon mmo
I think they spent more money on that cinematic than their entire character animation budget.
I think they spent more money on that cinematic than their entire character animation budget.
They always spend on the wrong things. The gameplay is shit, the lore is shit, and it's a fucking un-modded TES game.
I see the TEStanic is ready to set sail.
AtlanTES haha.

They tried to do a singleplayer style story, yet they have the normal linear "location progression" of most WoW clones. Nothing is more immersion breaking than seeing 30 other people who are also the "HERO OF TAMRIEL" running in the exact same direction as you and doing the exact same thing.

It prevents that shit like "GO RETRIEVE THE RELIC FROM THE TOMB OF GALUKHAN BAHKDORR, but be warry, NOT ONE MAN HAS MADE IT TO THE INNER SANCTUM" and then you get there and there's 30 dudes having a pants-off dance-off on top of the relic. Instead, the whole tomb is a seamless instance. Its just you, or you and your group.
Good. I want to play it when it goes f2p or single purchase, the sooner it happens the better. The community on launch will probably be horrible as well judging from what I've seen in beta map chats - people supporting subscription fees said they like it that way cause it will keep "russian kiddies" away and prove one's real devotion to the series (I'm not even joking), they also found it unbelievably offensive when someone told german players to speak english in the chat, being rude to russians is okay though! Oh, and lets not forget all the wonderful people from the Nexus who will yet make the devs regret ever making a /pushup emote. I only hope this fiasco won't affect future instalments of real Elder Scrolls.
World of Warcraft since release. Vanilla - $50 TBC - $35 WotLK - $40 Cata - $40 Mist - $40 122 months @ $15/month = $1,830 Total - $2,035 TES is soooo expensive...

Instead they should acknowledge the other players and make quests where you're helping to add to a collaborative effort.
It would help if MMOs stopped trying to make you the sole saviour of the world. Instead they should acknowledge the other players and make quests where you're helping to add to a collaborative effort.
Well, this is what WoW does.
Apart from beign expensive they want monthly payments to play? Keep dreaming. I will never pay monthly for a game and even less paying that much for a MMO.
Just start on The Elder Scrolls VI already for fuck sake Bethesda.
Bethesda isn't making this
When I saw the Imperial City near the end of the cinematic, I felt a nostalgic feeling. And that was really it. Absolutely nothing else in the video did anything for me. It's unbelievably bland... Sometimes, when companies are fucking up badly, I just wonder, how the hell does a conversation at their headquarters go? Surely some of them are aware that a lot of people think their game is going to crash and burn, and surely they've seen the arguments? Do they really believe in themselves that much, that none of it matters?
No but they could start working on the TES VI while this horrible idea dies.
And who says they aren't? They may very well be or potentially another Fallout (though I hope not, leave that to Obsidian).

Lets round your total up to $2200 to include any faction/realm transfers and character renames. So on the whole, per hour, this game has cost me 2200/6456 which is ~34c per hour. Expensive. Not to mention I'm being very generous with your numbers considering I've played since halfway through 2005 and had brief spells of not playing.
