Hi, I'm looking to buy a new monitor. Im currently using a 21.5 inch benq but want to now use a 24 inch 144hz monitor. Only thing im concerned is that im using an HD 7970 and want to sure everything will still run maxed out. I live in Toronto and am only looking to drop around $350. Here's one I had in mind. The most important thing is what resolution is your current monitor, and what is the resolution of the monitor you're wishing to upgrade to? 144hz is the refresh rate and won't have any impact on the performance of the titles you play. Might I also ask why you're intending to upgrade your monitor? Also worth noting the link you provided is incomplete/broken.

This one is 1080p but now im trying to find a monitor that's 1440p.
The monitor you linked is 1080p, and Asus do have fairly great build quality (have a ROG Swift myself, so speaking from experience). Though given you want better picture quality I would advise against you looking to get a monitor with a resolution of 2560x1440 (or greater) as for most games you will probably be required (depending on optimisation) to lower your graphical settings to maintain a playable framerate because of your 7970. Best advice I can provide given I'm not really familiar with Canadian retailers.

My friend was telling me that it wont work since its gsync and cuz I have an AMD 7970...is that true? Also will the 7970 be enough to run games at 1440p? I play mainly WoW and D3. Obviously I want to max out other games I play
Whilst it should work without issue (so long as you have relevant adapters for the display port connector), you won't be able to take advantage of the G-SYNC technology without a Nvidia GPU. As I mentioned previously, you will most likely be forced to lower your settings for most titles if you attempt to run them at 2560x1440 which does defeat the point in a higher resolution monitor.
You can get a cheaper 1440p monitor with freesync anyways.
