• Unrestrictive web hosting?

I was recommended Lithium as a web host. They look good, but they care too much about what I use them for. They don't allow for use as file storage of any kind not directly necessary for the operation of a website. This means I can't hook up my screenshots and webm recordings of my screen or webcam to be stored on Lithium's servers (they told me so). I also don't like that they care about legal NSFW content being stored on their servers; I don't want to have to worry if I screenshot anything adult for whatever purpose. Can anyone recommend a web host that allows for NSFW content and file storage, while still also supporting typical website operations? (such as PHP)
Sounds like you might be better finding a vps host that's ok with legal adult content, and just set up your own small web server and ftp. you'll find that web hosts are just that, a host for web documents. they're not file storage or backup.

Thanks for the VPS suggestion, Frank, and thank you anyway darksoul69. I'm now running on a bluevm unmanaged (no tech support = save money) VPS: 1024 MB of RAM 1024 MB of Swap 3 CPU @ 2.0+ Ghz 1 IPv4 Address 40 GB of Disk 2 TB of Bandwidth they're on sale on the 'special offers' page for 5$ a month hot damn [editline]19th July 2014[/editline] if i'd known i could save a fucking killing by doing the linuxy stuff myself i would've been doing this years ago hah i could even pile a gameserver onto this
Mmm. That looks possibly very nice for a TS server. Might have to pick one up myself.
Just note that it is for the really techy. If you don't know the first thing about linux you're going to suffer trying to get it going. I guess all the gameserver/web host costs are higher due to having support staff maintain the FTP/apache/game servers/game server updating/tech support. Doing all the work yourself on what is otherwise a blank linux install = $$$.
I'd rather not pay for it than pay a lot more and forget I have it/not use it. Google does me fine for most problems
i could even pile a gameserver onto this
You usually don't get guaranteed CPU resources on anything other than a dedicated server (or a very expensive VPS), so don't be surprised if it lags. Though some hosts do less overselling than others.
Just note that it is for the really techy. Keeping it updated and secure and knowing how to fix things if they break is.
