I'm trying to edit a game's settings via its text file, I want to change it from fullscreen= yes to no, and when I want to save it says: "cannot create the C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis III\settings.txt file. Make sure the path and filename is correct."
I then click OK and it opens up a new "browse" window, basically what you get when you click on "save as". So I click on save, in the game's folder, and it asks if I want to replace the file, I click yes and it says this again: "cannot create the C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis III\settings.txt file. Make sure the path and filename is correct."
So basically, I can't change the settings. As written in the title I'm on Windows Vista, my account is administrator though I think it's got something to do with administrator problems, so I have no idea what to do, any help?
Disable User Account Control, I had this as well when I was trying to install a mod for Stalker.
Make the file somewhere where you have explicit access then copy it over. It should pop up asking to confirm it. By default, you have to go through UAC to modify or create anything in the Program Files directory.
Thanks, I'll try it in a second and post results.

It should be in the control panel, I'm on 7 unfortunately.
Justice's advice sort of worked, because now the file says "fullscreen=no" when I open it, but the game is still on fullscreen (yeah, I put it in the right folder and deleted the other file), but I guess I'll just Google it. I also disabled the user account control thing, man that thing was annoying.

Yup, works now. I just wrote "fullscreen=no" again and saved and now it's in windowed mode like I want it, thanks guys.
