• Twitch streams don't work at all

As of recently (a couple of days ago) Twitch hasn't worked at all for me. The streams show completely black for me, and it doesn't even attempt to load. My computer in general has been slow as hell recently and think this might have something to do with it, but I don't know how to fix this.
Clear browser cache for starters. You could also run anti-malware check just in case.
I've cleared cache and cookies, and Avast hasn't told me it has found malware on my computer. Gfycat webms also don't show on the site itself, but they do work if they're embedded somewhere. [editline]14th December 2017[/editline] Honestly I think I should just reset and reinstall my entire computer, but I don't know how to get started. I don't have an external hard-drive anymore since my old one broke down, so I don't know how to back up files I want to save - should I go and buy a new external hard drive and move the files there and then do the reset, or can I do it without losing specific files?

You at least tried another browser?
I had the same exact issue and it just one day resolved itself after I uninstalled chrome and deleted it entirely before re-installing. I had to make a new chrome user too, which was not fun but it seemed to have worked.
you could try the piece of shit twitch desktop app that adds 10 minutes to your computer's start up time.

If the player itself loads, you could try switching from flash to html or in reverse.
