My PC, is taking a long time to start.. 3/4 mins min. My specs are; Asus M3N78-VM AMD64 Athlon 7750 Black Edition @ 2.7ghz BFGTech 9600GT 512mb 2x2gb DDR2 1066 RAM running at 1066. W7 32Bit installed on first drive. Now my pc should boot this in ~1min, if you don't think so please state why. Our college pc's start VERY fast and they are totally awfull. I only start AVG,Steam and MSN when i startup. -- I am looking to get a AM3 Phenom x4 940 or 945 (You can recommend another) I am also looking to go ATI and get the 4870 or 5870 (^ ^) -- Thanks, Aaron. P.s. Happy Christmas

I have done that to about 2 seconds decrease.
Run msconfig and disable all the startup junk you dont need running when you start your machine.

Sure except for AVG and sprocket.
AVG has useless real time detection nowadays, I'd keep it disabled till you scan with it.
Will restart and time it. - Up to the point i can open things without stress. + recommend a better AV [editline]02:28PM[/editline] It Took 2:45 20 seconds less.. Need more!
Disk cleanup? That's pretty much all you can do. I'd also grab the Auslogics disk defrag screensaver to keep everything running smoothly.
Ive done that... running CCleaner now and seeing if that does shit. also i dont mind overclocking my black edition CPU if i knew how.. (Multiplier is unlocked)

Splash screen and blue windows 7 loading page and initializing the desktop
I had the same problem until I plugged in 2GB ready boost usb and it starts in 1 minute,
Ignore this for now... My GPU died.. Can't do shit
Once you get that fixed, try enabling AHCI mode in BIOS and in Windows, that might speed things up a bit.
I fixed my gpu.. ill look at that now
I have the same specs except with a 4870... I boot ~30-40 seconds.
Disable everything except your OS and your Video Drivers. Cheers!
it is avg
I made it alot faster with 2gb of readyboost :P
i got a one gig SD card used for readyboost on my netbook shits pretty fast now
How does readyboost work? Does it really act like RAM, or will it just help some stuff load faster?
Do you have a camera or SD card reader plugged into the front, that always makes my machine hang on boot
AVG is awful. Get Microsoft Security Essentials.
