my friend gave me his old ipod 4g, because the battery was dead. So I took it off his hands for free and soon found out that I can replace the battery for really cheap. I cracked it open:

And then took out the battery:

But then I put it on my dock and got the same error:

If I replace the battery will it work again?
Don't link pictures from your email. Reupload them.
done.
I'd imagine the problem would be fixed if you put a new battery in.
i was asking if i should do that cuz i dont wanna waste any money dude
Well, the problem here appears to be that the battery is messed up, which is a pretty common problem for old iPods. A new battery should very likely fix the iPod.
Solder a new battery in. Find one from a website. Order it to your address. Pay via whatever method seems reasonable to you (Paypal is a good one, try that one!) then wait for it to ship to your house. While it's on its way, you could be doing lots more productive things like masturbating for example. When it's arrived. Open the package. Move the shipping protection away (could be packing peanuts, foam, or my favourite, bubble wrap ^.^) then take the battery, line up the positive and negative terminals to the solder points on the circuit board. Heat up your soldering iron, and then touch the wire to the solder point. If you need extra solder, then dab a bit from your solder roll. Once you're done, close the Ipod back up, and kindly FUCK YOUR OWN FACE.
New battery, $4 shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-iPod-Photo-4th-4G-4Gen-20GB-40GB-60GB-Tools-/280571822089?pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item4153624009#ht_2585wt_1124
Should fix the problem. If not, it's only $4. Not much to worry about.

The battery has a 3 prong connector. So kindly fuck your own face with your bubble wrap ^.^
