I'm looking to buy a desktop PC capable of playing ARMA2 at the highest possible settings, I have a near x budget, I get 400 a month (no tax) so even if its costs say 2,500 pounds I can just save and buy at the end of the year etc.
If you post a suggestions could you also post a link to where I can buy the desktop PC and the price, thanks for the help guys
If you're planning on buying at the end of the year, you should save and then ask again so that you can get a better up-to-date build.
He still needs to know the price of the PC about so he can save up that much.
Get a fuck-ton of RAM (32GB) and run it from a ramdisk. People have had excellent results doing this. A complete A2+OA+ACE install is just under 20GB. More info: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=88388
Edit: Obviously you can play ArmA 2 at good framerates on medium settings without a ramdisk, but if you really want to max out everything including the view distance, a ramdisk is going to be helpful.
uh
not too sure about how bad ARMA's load times actually are, but i'm going to go ahead and assume you'd be just fine loading it from an SSD.

You should build a PC rather than buy one. Building is much cheaper, easy, and you get to choose exactly what hardware you want. For 2500 pounds you could easily build something very, very powerful, that would take just about any game you throw at it for years.
Do you mean buy a pre-built or buy parts for a PC? There are a lot of advantages to building one, notably a massive reduction in cost (as you go towards the gaming end of the spectrum) and almost unlimited customizability. Plus there's no bloatware to remove.
Guide to choosing parts:

Build it, like I said in the other thread you made, its easy as hell, all you need is www.pcityourself.com and to make sure that you ground yourself.

Maybe a SATA III 6Gb/s SSD. The issue is that ArmA 2's engine doesn't cache anything, which is very noticeable when you're flying over large maps and the game is constantly stuttering to load building or plant models. You can compensate for this by putting at least the most commonly read PBO files in a ramdisk.
