20fps average in metro 2033 on medium settings... with a gtx285...

Specs for reference:
i7 920 2.7ghz
6gb ddr3
gtx285
win7 x64
its really unplayable, im very surprised i cant get a decent fps even with a gtx 285. i know its supposed to be an intensive game, but then again i should be able to at least get a solid 60 with my 285 on medium. i do have the latest drivers.
anyone have an idea? i do have 2 monitors, but the other one goes black when metro is fullscreen, and even if it didnt its just showing the desktop and shouldnt rape performance this much.
I used to get 20fps on medium but around 40fps on high, try that
control panel > power options > high performance
also what resolution, hell that is a major factor
Try setting it so your only using 1 monitor.
I know it doesnt make much sense but it might give you a couple extra frames
oh sorry, res is 1920x1080. its a desktop btw, are there still power options for desktops?

Yes, but don't listen to him. If it's on "Balanced" it's perfectly fine. It'll automatically adjust the clock frequency of your CPU according to what you're doing. If you mark it at "High performance" the only thing it ever does is fixing it to the maximum possible clock frequency all the time, meaning waste of power when browsing the internet and equally requiring tasks.
thats what i discovered after looking at the control panel. in any case, anyone know why my gtx 285 is performing so crappily

you kidding? just try it, you will see a difference. "peformance modes" are just about cpu throttling

i tried it, it didnt do anything, i dont think you understand the problem im having.
Have you tried to reinstall the drivers?
Turn off advance DOF and change antialiasing to AAA or whatever the lowest one was called.

20FPS average sounds just about right with that card on your setup, if both are enabled.

I don't think so, I can run it on full at about 15-20fps on my rig (AMD Athlon 4200+, 8800GT 512). Of course I play on medium because the low framerate makes fight scenes impossible.
I need a better PC :I
I have a GTX260 and ran like med-high on like 40-60 depending on the situation, your card has no explanation of why its performing slower than a 260.

just got the latest drivers
Try turning res down, maybe? Not all the way down to some stupidly low res, but just to something a bit smaller.
Also generic "Check temperatures" post. You never know.
