Hi guys!
Right now I have this really annoying problem, basically, when I go to some random-ass website it will start loading the page for a split second, then redirect me to something like: "wyciwyg://(0-200)/website.com"
Example websites that are affected: [url]www.mmo-champion.com[/url], rejseplanen.dk, the annotations editor on youtube, wiki.answers.com/ and more.
I have tried several different browsers, Firefox, Chrome and opera, but all of them except internet explorer had the problem.
What I think is wrong is something with the cache, because "wyciwyg" stand for "What You Cache Is What You Get", so I tried to turn off offline caching and deleting all my cache from the browsers, but that didn't help, so I went to about:config and completely turned off anything that anything to do with caching.
Problem still occured. At this moment I was pretty fucking pissed, and decided to come here to ask you guys.
What do I do?
Thanks in advance.
Sound like a virus.
Download Malwarebytes and scan your pc.
Are you sure it's not WY[B]S[/B]IWYG?

way to read
Don't just use one anti-virus, use multiple. Get Malwarebytes, get AVG, run Spybot S&D as well (Not typically suited for viruses but you never know what you have crawling around in there).
I suggest Malwarebytes, Combofix and HJT to do that.
I love that wyciwg.
This guy has the same problem as me: [url]http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=994934[/url]
Except he just had to remove his cache, which I have done multiple times.
I'll virus scan, just in case..

Just finished AVG scan, found nothing, will try Spybot S&D now.
[editline]02:48PM[/editline]
Spybot found some fastclick/ad stuff, but it didn't help my problem, malwarebytes time!
[editline]03:13PM[/editline]
None of the three fixed my problem. :frown:
What do I do now?
Are you doing this in safemode?
nope
[editline]05:40PM[/editline]
It did find something though, but it's gone and didn't fix my problem.
have you tried [url=http://www.combofix.org/]Combo Fix[/url]?
Going to try it, hang on.
[editline]06:32PM[/editline]
That didn't solve my problem :frown:
haha, wtf.
Goto run and type in
C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open it up with Notepad.
It should read something like this:
(Below the "#" lines)
127.0.0.1 localhost
And thats all. Unless you have a defined proxy.
It's there, and I still have the problem. :sigh:
It happens in all your browsers?
yeah. Only internet explorer isn't affected
Try flushing the DNS cache.
Go into command prompt and run this command:
ipconfig /flushdns
Will that work on a router?
[editline]03:08PM[/editline]
Didn't work either
[QUOTE=iSnubWaitWhat;24536382]yeah. Only internet explorer isn't affected[/QUOTE]
What other browsers have you used?
Opera, and Firefox, using Chrome right now, which is also affected.
Did you import any settings when you launched opera/chrome did you?
no, the problem happened while I was using firefox.
Tried turning off Offline Mode?
Yes.
I just found out it also kind of happens in IE, except it opens in a new window and starts loading the wyciwyg page, instead of just loading it like Chrome, Opera and Firefox.
Try [URL="http://www.facepunch.com/www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro"]Hitman Pro[/URL], it should do the trick.
Didn't work, does anyone know what the directory of internet cache is?
[editline]09:33PM[/editline]
Just ran CCleaner, now I have literally tried 5-6 different anti-virus/malware/etc. scanners, and can confirm it's not a virus.
[editline]10:41PM[/editline]
The problem also happens on my moms' laptop! I think it's time to restart the router.
I got the problem fixed! Somehow my router changed the DNS servers to some shitty default DNS, I changed it back to OpenDNS, and now the problem doesn't happen!
Oh, and my internet is like 2 times faster now!
