• Core 2 quad?

Ok so I have been wanting to get a new CPU lately and I currently have this setup Core 2 Duo OCed at 3.53 GHz P5N-e SLi MoBo 2GB DDR2 800 Gkill RAM 9800 GX2 850w Coolmax PSU Now I was wondering would this even help my current build a good amount or should I upgrade something else?
Get a Q9550, its quite good IMO.
Q9550 is good (but a bit old now), able to reach X4 955 performance, without doubt. Unless you want to change your mobo/RAM too, Q9550 is one of the best choices
My home server has a Q9550 in it, it's only a Media/Storage so I leave folding at home running on it. On Topic: It will be a very good processor when upgrading from a C2D.

I love my Q9550. It can max out pretty much everything (except DR2 :saddowns:).

It's only got 4MB of L2 cache and a 7.5 multiplier. With a multi that low you'll probably have a hard time getting a good overclock.

No, the Q8*** series are the worst Core2Quad series.
What is is the cheapest Quad core for 775 that is good? ( and overclockable)
Q9300?
I would've said q6600 but I just checked prices and they are like $400 If you trust Ebay though, you can buy it from there, they're like ~$150. And the G0 revision is very overclockable. EDIT: Or you can get the 9300 I have my q6600 @ 3.2 by the way.
My Q6600 is still kicking ass but there's better out there
I have a Q9400 and its unstable at 3.4 ghz.
The thing is I only have so much money is the only thing that is wrong with the Q9400 its can only be overclocked slightly? (and what is the highest clock it can be at and be stable) And what about these? Again, the Q8*** series are the worst of the Core 2 Quad series. Just get the q9300. Apparantly it is pretty overclockable. "We expected the Q9300 to do better - and it did. On the same nForce 790i Ultra board, the Q9300 pushed to 3.5GHz on a 2,000MHz front-side bus without breaking a sweat. Mind you both overclocks were done with a stock Intel cooler, so your mileage may vary." Source: http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/71544/
Ok thank you and wow with a stock cooler.
I don't know if I would trust it though... I just google'd q9300 overclock and just clicked on the first results. Look it up yourself, and decide if it is right for you or not.
I have a Q9400 and its unstable at 3.4 ghz.
well the one that I posted originality posted how far can I overclock that one and what are the bad things about it? (and where can I find OEM 775 CPU's) (This will also be used for Gaming) EDIT: Wheres my auto merge!
What about the Q8400 I just saw a review on it and it seems like a pretty overclockable CPU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUfWOmsYwf0
