Hi Guys,
When it comes to building PC's im a little "under educated" in comparison to how much id like to know however, i know most of the basic stuff and have decided to build my own gaming computer as im trying to move from console (Xbox) to PC.
The parts ive chosen so far are:
i5 3570k
Nvidia GTX 650 ti (2gb)
8gb Corsair Vengance RAM
Seagate 1tb (7200rpm) HDD
Cooler Master 650w PSU
Zalman Z11 Tower
The build will cost somewhere between £650-£700ish (maybe a bit more depending on if i can get good prices).
The main thing im struggling to choose is the motherboard. I need one with the 1155 socket to fit the 3570k and id also like an SLI compatible one so its more future proof if i decide i ever want to get a new set of gpu's and SLI it. Do you think its worth looking for the SLI compat one in the off chance that i may (or may not) want to take advantage of the capabilities in the future or would i be better off just going for a cheaper board without it?
Suggestions of boards would be great! Im currently looking at the Asus P8Z77 V-LK or the MSI Z77A-GD55
Also, if you have any thoughts or suggestions for alternatives to my other parts plese say!
Thanks! :)
ASROCK z77 extreme 4.
Or z75 if you dont plan to use SSD caching or triple sli.
lso the 650 isnt all that powerfull.
Great, thank you!
Ive looked at some reviews and the Z77 Extreme4 looks like the one for me, i doubt ill use the tri sli or ssd but it looks like the better board from what ive read overall including better overclocking capabilities apparently.
It should do the job though shouldnt it? Or will a more powerful one be more suited to the build?
Just a heads up the 650Ti (non boost edition) doesn't support SLI, so if your going to down the upgrading later route you should just sell the 650Ti and buy a twice as fast card at the time, at least in my opinion.
Yeah, i know, if i was going to SLI i would sell the card im going to use. Thats a good point though, it would probably be more cost effective too. I think i still want to have the ability to be able to sli though incase i feel like thats what i want to do because it would be a bitch to get a cheaper board and then just have to reinstall everything onto a new one that does what i want it to.
Thanks though!
To add to the list of possibilities for anyone else that might want it:
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
EDIT:
I've overclocked this up to 4.5 with i7-3770K with no problems, no heat issues
I know ASRock is preferred for overclocking, just something else to add.

Excellent board as well. And OP there really arrent any more powerfull boards out there. (Unless you count X79/2011 socket etc)
Thanks guys, ive compared the Asrock and Gigabyte boards and think im going to go with the Gigabyte purley because it seems like the better board for me in my opinion.
Thanks for all the help!
