Is this at all a good career to try and get in to after high school? Is it at all worth it, and possible to live off it?
While I'm not an EMT, I would assume you would need to be able to preform first aid and be able to deal with possibly gory situations. It's also ranked 9th in the most stressful jobs in America, and also only appears to pay 33,000 dollars. But if it's what you want to do, go for it!
If you like driving at high speed feeling like a god.
It's worth it.
actually finding a job after being certified is what I wonder about the most, and what I'd like the most input on. do you go for state or hospital employment first? or private services?

definitely interested and going for it, just curious of the outcome.
If you like to help more people, you might want to go public.
I'm not an EMT, but helping you see if it's worth it.
well, it fits my interests, so I'm gonna go for it. not the most glamorous job, but helping people is nice.

It took my brother awhile to get into a paid position, he spent almost a year volunteering with a local Rescue squad. He seems to love it though and says it was worth it. I can tell at times it hits him hard though, especially when he witnessed a child die for the first time.
My dad's one, I'll ask him if you'd like.

He says that the job market depends on your region. It'll be harder to find a job in urban areas, at least in his case. He also says that it'd be a good idea to go on and become a paramedic after being certified as it'll open up more career paths.
Keep hearing that working as an EMT won't get you very good pay, at least not enough to live comfortably. While I'd work towards paramedic, wondering if anyone knows what the average pay might be and how far that'd get you.
Governor Goblin is an EMT, you should probs invite him to the thread or pm him.
it's kind of a dead end job (pun unintended) tbh
you'll reach as far as you can get in the industry pretty soon
